This song is pretty amazing. I love how she describes love as being bound but still feeling free. Very true. Her voice is so haunting. |

| I love this song. Agree that "Golden" is their best, but this is such an awesome song about taking responsibility in your life and taking a leap, even in uncertain times. I like that they lead with the alternative: sitting around and blaming your problems on everything else. Believing in oneself, focusing on your vision for the future, and working hard to obtain it is really all that life is about. Even if you fail, you have the personal satisfaction of knowing you gave everything you could. Great song. | |

| I love this song; it reminds me of a young me and my father. Luckily, he hasn't passed yet and I still have time to repay what I owe. It's funny how much we think we know when we're younger. I listen to it every time I drive to his house in Virginia's house country. I associate some very special memories with it and many beautiful images pop into my mind when I hear it. | |

| I really like this song. I think it could be about a relationship that he wants to end, but he doesn't want to end it. There are a lot of reasons why he wants it to end, but he also doesn't want to hurt her. If she ends it, he will feel justified in speaking his thoughts. Others around them see it's not a healthy relationship and are telling her to end it, too. I don't know if this is true but I've seen it happen enough in life to know that it's a somewhat common game. | |

Best Bon Iver song bar none... listened to this as my plane landed in Beijing and Bon Iver quickly became the theme of my semester abroad. I went there thinking I would impress a girl back home by showing how cultured I was... she definitely ended up smashing some dude the whole time I was gone. Classic. "So many foreign roads, for Emma, forever ago" |

I think it's interesting listening to this song and veiw it from the persoective of the dying man's shadow, who is pacing the floor reflecting on his former (soon to be dead) owner's life. (I=the shodow, he=the man on h lying on the floor after a hit... trainspotting style) Each line has such a special meaning (that I think is unique to each listener which is why this song is so great, esp. to those who have been hooked on drugs before and have had the inner battle that this dying man's conscience is having) my favorite stanza is the last one: "I see you're leaving me and taking up with the enemy The cold comfort of the in-between A little less than a human being A little less than a happy high A little less than a suicide The only things that you really tried" The description of what is it like when you're hooked on drugs and what you are when on drugs is so accurate. The self-destructive (a little less that a suicide) inhumaine (a little less than a human being) attempt at comfort and happiness (a little less than a happy high)... so awesome. Also sorry I know my spelling sucks... I'm a finance major not an english one. Anyway there's my two cents. |
