| The Killers – Believe Me Natalie Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Yeah this song is actually named after Natalie Portman (or Hershlag). :] yeah I'm slightly infatuated with her too, Tenniskh89, lol... even though I'm a little out of her league. I'm thinking Portman is a little too vanilla to have AIDS and be buddy buddy with Brandon Flowers (but you never know) and that Natalie was just a name given because Brandon Flowers is slightly infatuated with her as well! Man who would think that Natalie Portman would get me back into The Killers? ick. now I need to find that CD.... |

| Death – Empty Words Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This is by far my favorite song from Death. I love the meaning and how I could relate to it! A close person, probably the songwriter's lover made a promise to them (I think maybe an "I'll love you FOREVER" or something like that). The songwriter put all his trust in her, then she completely changed and left him without warning, out of nowhere. The winds of change blew her, and her promise away. The songwriter is having trouble coping with that, and has lost all trust in her, and everyone else around him as well. He questions what is real, if anything lasts forever, and why this happened to him. He's stuck in the past, in a world of memories, and can't believe what has happened, can't let go. Nothing at all seems real, and words are worthless and empty to him. And the broken promise is tearing at his spirit. Well, that's my life story right there, haha! Except instead of an "I'll love you forever," it was more like "I'll love you for a few more months and then go bang my ACTUAL boyfriend..." xD |

| A Perfect Circle – Blue Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Well, when you take in consideration the concept of this album, dealing with drug addiction, the meaning is clear. Of course, being that Maynard wrote it, there are probably 13,000,000 ways to interpret the lyrics according to what it means to you : ) Anyways, an extra 2 cents of mine, this girl is destroying herself with this drug addiction, making her blue. One thing I was wondering about though, was the "ignore the smoke and smile" lines. I think it meant he (the songwriter) saw the warning signs that this girl will eventually kill herself, and despite his help, she never seeked help. But according to the narrative, there's a THIRD character involved. I think that that character was the only person who could really stop that girl from killing herself, and yet they never acted on it and let her die. So the songwriter is pissed off at that other person for letting her die! That's one theory. "Ignore the smoke" is sarcasm for "neglect the warning signs" like how when a fire burns, there's always smoke pointing out the hazard. Where there's smoke, there's fire. "I didn't want to know" that she was dying, because it would hurt too much, so "I closed my eyes" and ignored the warning signs, watching her die and turn blue. |
