Talking Heads – Heaven Lyrics 13 years ago
'There is a party, everyone is there. Everyone will leave at exactly the same time.' This line is (to me) quite obviously about losing people - either through death or being left - because if we all left at the same time there would not be any suffering the pain of those losses.

I think that 'trying to get to the bar' is an analogy for the pursuit of happiness.

I can see that - 'changes' would work too.

Just been listening to this song which I've loved for years. I have always understood it in the exact way you describe - like being frozen in a happy moment with no fear of change or things going wrong but it never gets boring because how your feelings never change either. I can't stop crying now, David Byrne is so damn insightful.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Bodies Lyrics 19 years ago
I first fell in love with this song about 9 years ago and it still hasn't lost it's impact like so many do. For me the sentiment 'love is suicide' relates to the the fact that when you fall in love with somebody completely your existence becomes purely for them, all other aspects of your life take second place and they are all that matters to you. In response to the comment about Billy Corgan being close to God, I think it's more about the potency of love and how all consuming and spiritual it can be, this song is like the other side of Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus, Corgan is speaking of the emotion of being someone's Personal Jesus. Don't we all want both though, to love so much nothing else matters and for that person to feel as deeply about us.
