This song makes me think of making love all night, uninhibited, passionately, with soem idea that it might be gone tomorrow. That kind of love making has some kind of love persona, but it doesn't always have to be mutual. The mutany he refer's to is the breaking down of the idea he can just walk away, like when you only have lust for a person. Pity can also be for a person who blindly falls into it. I agree that he makes references to not caring if she feels the same, he wants her anyway. This is one of my favorite songs on BS, I can understand the way people can create strong emotions and ties from an act so intense, just the thougth of having that sexual experience with someone, I couldn't imagine NOT having extreme feelings of love! |

Okay, Ive never seen the lyrics to the PSSF, and Im thinking that they are nothing like SSF and 2002. Im looking at both versions of Raven (SSF/2002) and thinking the picture is much bigger than a specific situation. The second version of Raven (SSF) I thought was about mankind and the destruction of ourselves. He makes reference to God and how 'we' can avoid the "Raven" in the world. But he still realizes that it is only his point of veiw. If you think about what a Raven represents, its self explanitory. The BS(2002) version of Raven is still on the same theme, I think. I think the boy is on verge of self-destruction and the man is trying to reason with him. The boy blames the man and the man also blames himself, but still he tells the boy "to think" about what would Jesus do. "Smoke" I think represents the boy firering the gun. The man stood alone thinking. The "twisting" reminded me of the twisting of a barrel of a gun, maybe could have something to do with the amount of young people today who get ahold of guns and make bad decisions, the man stood there twisting, when I think of a man twisting it could be the same thing as, him turning around, looking at the boy walking away, like he was disappointed. at the end of the song he says, open instead of bleeding, that could have so many different meanings. I have to think abou the song more. |
