| Silverstein – The End Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Wow, this song is absolutely amazing, almost brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of my friend Steph. About two years ago she was found dead in her dorm room, but no one knew why she died. She had this unbelievable voice, haunting really. It sounded how I imagined angels would sound. Well I guess 2 weeks before she died our church recorded her singing the Lord's Prayer with a beautiful organ accompaniment. We went to the church service that was held immediately preceding her funeral, and the last song that was played was her singing the Lord's Prayer. It was the last time anyone ever heard her voice, and to this day it was the saddest/most beautiful thing I have ever heard. I guess this song reminds me of her because it's so beautiful, and how the line "we'll both die tonight" is repeated throughout the song. | |

perhaps the "falling" he is referring to is not so much a literal falling, as it is a "falling from faith", a more metaphorical interpretation that can very easily fit in with the literal one as well. He obviously isn't falling from a rooftop, but it certainly sounds like he fell from faith and lost his religion. Idk, just my 2 cents |

| Sum 41 – Speak of the Devil Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
amazing song, the chorus is beautifully constructed and has just the right amount of energy and keeps it up through the whole song. The song, I think, is about Derryck struggling with his inner demons, his inner devils, and all of the bad things he may have done, or how the focus of his life may have been on the wrong things when the right ones were right in front of him all along. In their earlier albums they had songs like "grab the devil by the horns and fuck him in the ass," "pain for pleasure," and "ride the chariot to the devil", all of which were songs about satan and darker subjects. Maybe Deryck finally realized that he shouldnt be singing about those subjects and now he's finally getting his life in order. Idk, just my 2 cents |

| Amber Pacific – Take Me From This Place Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The line should be "I have nothing in this heart AT ALL", not "I hoped," but fantastic otherwise. it sounds like something very bad or depressing happened in his life, breakup, parents' divorce, relative or loved one died, etc. He's questioning his purpose on earth and looking for some sort of refuge from the pain he's feeling. |

| (+44) – Weatherman Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Weatherman", how ironic considering how unpredictable the weather is, and how wrong weathermen often are for trying to predict the unpredictable. I think that this song is about a relationship that Mark is in where he knows it's never going to work out, and he keeps having reoccuring thoughts about breaking up with her and ending it. This is evidenced very strongly by the chorus. "Let me slip away, I'm barely holding on Every now and then I feel the end of us I love the way you breathe inside my head But something's gotta change, I'm barely holding on" The second verse really shows a lot of callousness and bitter resentment towards his significant other. "I never meant to say I'm sorry And I'm not sad to see you go away Where human shapes burned on concrete walls These days the sun don't shine here anymore" We can obviously infer from the first two lines that he is not regretful about the decision he has made or is going to make. The "weather" also seems to have changed by the fact the the sun doesn't shine anymore where it once shined relentlessly. Yet another song about love and relationships, but a far cry from the immature blinkish lyrics about fucking and running. This song is one of the deeper ones from the CD, where the meaning isn't nearly as obvious as, say, Cliff Diving, or Make You Smile. It is certainly inspired by a low point in Mark's life, and gives evidence to the saying that we write the best songs and the most lucrid poems when we are at the lowest points in our lives. Shazaam!1!!11! |

| (+44) – Cliff Diving Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Since no one's contributed an actual 'meaning' for the song yet, I think I'll give it a go. Keeping with the notion that this song is the most 'blinkish' on the CD, I think that this song is not very complex. It is simply about teenage lust, or about a relationship Mark might have had a while ago. It talks about how his days stretched on for longer than usual, and that's prolly cause he loved whoever he was with. The title, 'Cliff Diving,' refers to something that is very risky and new and scary almost. A situation where you dont know the outcome and it could easily go either way, very good or very bad. The chorus talks about making a promise, possibly in the heat of the moment, as many of us teens do in the summers with chicks we may meet at random places. But then he says ,'how did we get to this' refering to a mistake he could have made about his promise. The point is that our lives and relationships require us to dive off of a few cliffs, and sometimes those cliffs have jagged rocks at the bottom, and sometimes they have beautiful beaches where we can spend the rest of our lives. Just a stab in the dark |

| This song really shows that you don't need great guitar work to make a great song. The guitars are very simple and plain, but the lyrics are what make this song soar and make it so damn loveable | |

I personally think this song is about Blink breaking up and the formation of AVA The ash set in, then blew away. It’s getting lost into the sea. (After their breakup, they must have harbored bitter feelings and resentment towards each other, but eventually they passed and will forget about it) I grew so close to all the thoughts I had; to leave forever. (He got to used to playing and writing for Blink but then had to leave all that behind and start something completey new and change his writing and singing style) I left the chill and voice, the screams in kids, and ran for shelter. (He left all the popularity, fame, and love from his fans to start something that people might not like. He was taking a big leap he in a sense 'hid' himself away from his past and focused on his future) You know I wont say sorry. Do you know I wont say sorry? (He did what he had to do and he has no regrets about what he did. He almost holds himself in higher regards than mark and travis, because he's saying that he wont be the first to apologize and that he knows what he did is right.) The pain has a bad reaction, A blend of fear and passion. (A crucial line right here, he's saying that he feels pain for leaving something that was so successful and so right, but that pain might not be well founded. He is torn between fear and passion, and that's why he feels pain. He's afraid of starting something so new and different, something he's not used so. But also, he has conviction that what he's doing is right, and that it needs to be done. He has a new passion for creating a new kind of music, and that conflict of fear and devotion is what is causing this pain.) Do you know what it's like to believe? It makes me wanna scream. (He's almost asking mark and travis if they even felt the kind of dedication and closeness to their music as tom feels right now about his music. He is on to greater and better things, but he's still torn between many emotions as he's making this change in his life: fear, passion, conviction, anger, confusion, understanding. All he's trying to do is find the truth, but it might take him awhile to find it.) Well, that's my two cents. |

| Angels and Airwaves – Valkyrie Missile Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's not just about blink's breakup, but it's also about the whole new band idea in general. In the beginning, you can hear the radio transmissions saying, "This is the scariest thing I've ever done in my life." " I can see the sun coming up over the horizen." Even though blink is over, they were creating something much better, and much greater than tom thought blink would ever be. The Valkyrie Missile in real life would have destroyed many many lives, but after that the world would come to realize how foolish they were and start something new, something much better and worthy. | |
| Angels and Airwaves – A Little's Enough Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It sounds to me like the song is about God coming down to earth to fix all the things that have gone wrong. Not necessarily when he came to earth 2000 yrs ago, but maybe even then he fixed all the things he could and healed all the hurts that he could. Every line in this song evidences it, and this song is simply beautiful. | |
