Dude, Streetlight IS SKA. There just not typical ska. Ska promotes diversity (hence the checkerboard symbol) so ur obviosly not a true ska fan.

Streetlight Manifesto – Keasbey Nights Lyrics 19 years ago
Not to worry joker, ill explain

Im going to quote what I said myself in the comments for point counterpoint but the meanings are identical.

"This song is awesome. Its about a dude who gets in trouble with some gang, he knows there out to get him, so he puts on a kevlar vest hoping for life that they'll shoot him in the chest and not the head when they do come, as he's waiting (no point in running away) he starts to think how much of a loser he was and low and behold, the gang didn't show up, and spared his life. The guy realizes hes gotton another chance at life, so he lives the most of it thanks to his near death experience.

At the end he's saying that the only way anyone would understand his lesson is to acually go through it themself."

the only difference between this and point counterpoint is point counterpoint gives a conclusion to the story where as keasbey nights ends on a cliffhanger.

Read the lyrics to keasbey nights and point counterpoint (especially the chorus) and it'll come right to you.

Streetlight Manifesto – That'll Be The Day Lyrics 19 years ago
Hes pissed because the person hes singing about is dead.
He did all could to stop the suicide but he couldnt stop him from killing himself.

It's cool how these following three songs from Everything Goes Numb interlock with each other, each song has the same meaning but a different situation/outcome.

A Better Place, A Better Time - He wants to prevent someone from killing themself, and he sucessfuly stops them.

The Saddest Song - He wants to prevent someone from killing themself, but the person successfully kills himself, the rest of the song is about how he deals with it.

That'll be the day - The person already killed themself and he is singing about the aftermath.

Streetlight Manifesto – Walking Away Lyrics 19 years ago
I do like the catch version better but I wont dwell on it.

On to the meaning of the song, it's like a sonnet, it changes meaning during the middle of the song. The first half of the song two people are friends and they hope it never ends as they are talking and dancing, but then the guy in the song learns she (hopefully it was a she as they were dancing) was faking their friendship, for attention or whatever.

This song has sort of the same meaning as "Dear Sergio:" except the person in "Dear Sergio:" had the same problem and Sergio was looking down on him like "what an ass" where as in this song no one was critisizing her like Sergio was in "Dear Sergio:"

Both the person in "Dear Sergio:" and in this song were faking a relationship to try to fit in. Justifications from these lyrics:

"but as the time goes by,
you stop and sigh.
You stop and sigh and then you wonder why."

shes wondering why she faked a relationship because she never liked him.

"Goodbye to me, to you, to us,
to everything, because it fell apart,
as we're walking away."

He recognized that and now hes leaving her.

If you have a hard time understanding this read the lyrics to dear sergio and read all the comments, then read the lyrics to this song and then my comment.

I can't believe im the first to comment on this song. It's a really catchy song (no pun intended), It's not my fav by streetlight but its really good.

It has the same story as "everything went numb"

i agree with bob.

"I'm kind of shy so dont wonder why"

I think its really cool how the backup singer sings most of the song which defends that lyric of kalnoky being shy because its sort of like another person is telling his emotions for him, why? because he's shy.

I dont know if kalnoky did that on purpose but it's still really cool.

I finally got my hands this album today, and ill have to say, this is my favortite song on the album. I never met (so to speak) a person (kalnoky) who writes songs about anti-suicide and life lessons at the age of 15!

Streetlight Manifesto – Everything Went Numb Lyrics 19 years ago
To me, it doesn't matter if its a bank robbery.

But for the purpose of my opinions let's just say it is.

In my opinion, I think the guy in the song isn't plotting to rob a bank, he's being forced to help guys rob a bank, because he has a high security access to the bank. He could always do the right thing and not help these guys and move away to another country. But he thinks to himself, "I could help theese guys, and then run away." to him whatever he chooses to do hes gonna have to run away(from either the bad guys or the authorities) so he decides to help them, take his share in money, and then run away. Low and behold, he gets caught, his life filled with friends and relations is smothered.

I think this is so because the beggining lyrics "get in the van, if everything goes smooth then youll walk away a rich man." the bad guys are saying that to him to calm him down because his self consience is making him go nuts(he even had a nightmare the night before).

The lyric that supports my interpritation the most:

"I do what i got to do just to keep my nose clean"

why would Kalnoky put that lyric in the song of the man in the song is plotting to rob a bank HIMSELF? Hes gonna help a third party rob a bank, take his money, and then run away, therefore keeping his nose clean.

RE: the first comment.

Dude, your absolutely right, Im a fanatic about that show and I just relized that after reading your comment.

perfect example of how the chorus relates to 24. In the 5th season, when the president relizes he's gonna get caught and braught to justice, that scene had keasbey nights written all over it!

Also the entire operation behind season five (with the government conspiracy) relates to keasbey nights in its own way.

Streetlight Manifesto – Giving Up, Giving In Lyrics 19 years ago
After listening to the end of the song about 5 times, I think this is what he sais after "don't stop" and before "i give up":

"It's what my brother(mother?) said about a billion times and its running inside my brain"

I hope i'm right and i hope this helps.
