The song has a very obvious reference to A Place in the Sun. A lower class man has ambitions for higher social standing and is torn between two women. One is poor like him (asking him to settle down) and the other is high society & rich (Angela Vickers). Not going to spoil anything else but shit gets real. This song is just pressure and desperation, pressure from society to do things the "right and traditional way" (settling, marriage & babies) and desperation to get and or hold onto it (wishing on a star to keep him) |

I listened to this song to death when it FAD first came out and for some strange reason has always made me think of a bunch of muppets/puppets like Kermit, Beaker, Elmo etc on their way to a street fight with switchblades. Every single time I listen to it now, the strumming at the beginning before Patrick starts singing puts this image of one of the puppets walking along a brick wall flipping a blade in its hand. I can't explain, I can only wish it were real.

everything that could be said about this song has been but everytime this song starts i just imagine like some serious ass kicking in a parking lot is about to happen but then the "how? how?"'s after I'm gonna leave you & I'm gonna teach you remind me of muppet voices and i start laughing my ass off. and i like singing "motherfucker" instead of "freckle freckle" just sounds better. |

it wasn't until i looked up this site that i got that i was about vampires. the first few times i listened to it, i thought i was about different stages of a persons religion i suppose. specifically these lines
"leaving me stranded all in love on my own"
"with the moon i run, far from the carnage of the fiery sun" but i heard it as "fiery sermon" instead.
"200 years of chasing" as "2000 years of chasing". if i were in a clearer mood, i could explain it better. i'm not a vampire aficionado or overly religious but the song is just better to me thinking of it this way |

cousin fe fe please write many novels and hallmark cards. it brought a tear to my eye, the world slowed to a crawl and i think i heard Take My Breath Away floating softly on the breeze.
onto this song. i will admit this was the theme song of me slowly embracing accepting my slutdom. i still like it. but as the world saw at the VMA's brit's image has been groomed to be sex, it became more pronounced and i think its not who she really is and i think thats what made her "performance" all the more disturbing to me. |

as far as the video its based off a stephen king short story 'the autopsy'. guy gets bitten by a african boomslang snake and appears dead. instead of crying a single tear he gets an erection when the nurse bends over so they stop and he ends up dating the nurse. anyway i listened to anna-molly then wish you were here some similarities 1000 ships on the sea/ the ocean looks like 1000 diamonds on a blue blanket. He's a wounded satellite needing her now/ counting ufo's and signalling them. i dont know it made sense when i first thought about it but now that i typed it out it looks odd...i think i listen to Incubus too much. |
