| The Lonely Island – I Just Had Sex Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it's sort of a satire of people who have that mindset when they lose their virginity. Kind of like "Jizzed In My Pants" was a satire of people saying x, y, z made them "jizz in their pants" Either way, I don't think this song is meant to be taken too seriously... |

| Johnny Cash – God's Gonna Cut You Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I am not a religious man myself, but still this song has gotten me through some very hard times. Sometimes we don't understand the error of our ways until we've already paid the price for our mistakes...and we can either make a change and do good or we will pay for our mistakes someday. | |
| Linkin Park – Wretches And Kings Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Part of Mario Savio's speech was transcribed wrong...it's "...and you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!" | |
| A Day to Remember – 2nd Sucks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I actually prefer the new sound of this song to their older, punkier stuff. I suppose the lyrics could be a bit more original but hey, they're not bad. I've never heard screaming that sounded quite like this either, I think it's a really awesome sound and I hope to hear more of it in the future. | |
| The Spill Canvas – The Tide Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song makes me cry :( The face-value meaning of this song is pretty self-explanatory. However, I think the story has a deeper meaning. I can't quite put my finger on it. Any ideas? |
| Slipknot – Psychosocial Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| What is it that he's saying in the breakdown? It sounds like "the limits of the dead" or something like that? | |
| Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this song is talking about the amazing potential and power one person can have. Then when it gets to the third verse, it becomes kind of a warning of what can happen when we let that potential and power run out of control. Amazing song! |
| Corpus Christi – Marilyn Lyrics | 16 years ago |
omg this is the first time i've read these lyrics and they fuckin gave me chills... It looks like this song is about a woman whose husband dies but rather than drowning in despair (like so many crappy emo songs whine about) she chooses to face the future with hope that she can carry on. She seems to get this hope from her daughter ("She sees his eyes and finds her hope / Looking upon her daughter's face"). Fuckin amazing song! |
| Tool – Lateralus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song gives me chills every time I listen to it, and the amazing feeling this song gives me is multiplied now that I have read through the lyrics thoroughly and understood them. This song is a work of true artistic genius! I think it's about embracing life for what it is and living it, where sometimes people overanalyze and make things more complex than they need to be. Definitely a philosophy I have about life - it makes this song that much more meaningful to me! |

| Rob Zombie – Dragula Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Is it just me or do I detect a hint of necrophilia in this song? "Slam in the back of my dragula": Dragula = hearse that is jacked up into a hotrod Slam = slang synonym for "bang" "shag" or "fuck" Not that I have a problem with it. This song's awesome either way. |
| DragonForce – Through the Fire and Flames Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song totally sounds like it should be in an anime series somewhere...and I hate anime...but despite that I think this song is awesome. This is the only song by Dragonforce which I like, but it's incredible. | |
| The Offspring – Feelings Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't think the song necessarily pertains to a girl in his life...just someone he really hates, someone who really pisses him off. | |
| Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I always got the impression this song was about anger issues...Losing one's temper unnecessarily over the slightest conflict... Not ALL the lines in the song support this theory, but it makes more sense to me than self mutilation and suicide. "I don't know why I instigate and say what I don't mean" seems to portray his anger flaring up and making a slight conflict much worse...instigating it... Hey, maybe it's about anger problems/arguments over drugs? That makes more sense than anything to me. "Clutching my cure, I tightly lock the door, I try to catch my breath again." Possibly the aftermath of a fiery argument over drugs? And the rest of that verse, "I hurt much more than anytime before, I had no options left again."--that could be him feeling remorse over losing his temper and then he turns to the drugs to rid himself of the painfully recent memory. "I don't know what's worth fighting for, or why I have to scream." He doesn't know whether the drugs are worth fighting so much for, or whether it would be worth the battle of giving them up. He also doesn't know why he's losing his temper so quickly over them (many possible reasons, maybe the drugs in his body are causing it, maybe the start of withdrawal from the drugs is causing it, maybe he's just sick of being pestered about them). "Memories consume, like opening the wounds, I'm picking me apart again." could be referring to how the arguments are heavy on his conscience, and how he's destroying himself with the drugs. I dunno, just what I think. Unless someone has solid proof from LP themselves that it's about this or that, all views are valid...unless of course that view is completely absurd and quite obviously NOT what the song is about (like fluffy teddy bears)...but wait, a fluffy teddy bear could, by the remotest possiblity, be his "cure" that he is clutching...but who the hell really believes THAT? |
| Fleetwood Mac – My Little Demon Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I agree that it is about fighting your inner demons, but something in the lyrics tells me it's about resisting sex, particularly the line "...know that I will take yu home". But I think the above two interpretations are equally valid. | |
| The Flaming Lips – She Don't Use Jelly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I originally thought this song was just about quirky people...But now I'm reading people commenting about the song being about masturbation, and you know, it kinda makes sense... For instance, the first verse: ----------------- i know a girl who thinks of ghosts she'll make ya breakfast she'll make ya toast she don't use butter she don't use cheese she don't use jelly or any of these she uses vaseline ----------------- The first part of the verse about her making breakfast and toast and stuff doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with anything, but they put the second part "She don't use butter, she don't use cheese, she don't use jelly, or any of these, she uses vaseline" probably to imply that she lubes up with vaseline. Of course, in the second verse he could either be using magazines to get off--or, what might make more sense in the context, he uses magazines to wipe up his junk. I can't, however, make any sense of the part about tangerines in the third verse, or how it would apply to masturbation. I'm stumped by that one. But of course, any of the meanings the rest of you have come up with are just as valid as this one. You never know. |

| The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Sweet Transvestite Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| By the way, great song...It sounds kind of awkward when I'm walking around the house, snapping my fingers and singing this, but I love this song. | |
| The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Sweet Transvestite Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This bugs me so much...They spelled "Transsexual" wrong. Notice there's more than one "S" there. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I looked this song up to download on MSN Music and it said [Explicit]. I don't get it, though, what's explicit about this song? | |
| Nickelback – Far Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this because I only read the first four comments on the page...but my interpretation of the song is that the two are in love (obviously) but they have to be away from each other for whatever reason for a long time. My idea isn't really backed with anything substantial, but that's just what I think. The ideas involving them having broken up are just as likely, though. |

| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
That thing about the song talking about Satan when played backwards is true, I tried it. But there is absolutely NO WAY IN HELL that anybody could purposely do that. It's impossible. The backwards thing is a complete fluke. Therefore, if you're looking for the meaning of the song, then don't bother listening to it backwards...it's not going to give you any ideas. Led Zeppelin rocks, this song is one of my favorites ever--way up there with Good Times Bad Times, Black Dog, and Rock and Roll. My mother has gotten so sick of hearing this song because they used to play this song like ten times a day when she was in high school. I can't get enough of it though! |
| AC/DC – Ain't No Fun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| My favorite part of the song: "Hello, Howard, how you doin', my next door neighbour? Oh, yeah...Get your fuckin' jumbo jet offa my airport!" | |
| The J. Geils Band – Love Stinks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song's awesome. The name says it all, dude...I can definitely relate to this, I've been in so many sticky situations with love. Even Twisted Sister's "Love is for Suckers" doesn't say it like this song does...I like this song because it's so blunt--no euphemism and no bullshit. | |
| Bon Jovi – Livin' On A Prayer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Referring to emmychloe's comment about his last name, and this debate that seems to be going on about the subject...his original last name was Bongiovi, and eventually he changed it to Bon Jovi. I think he changed it before he started the band. Awesome song...this is the song that got me into Bon Jovi. Yeah, it is cheesy 80's shit like aj2828aj said, but it's a great song. Bon Jovi's awesome. |
| Bon Jovi – Have A Nice Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Bon Jovi's a good band, but I can't stand this song. Maybe the only reason I hate it is because they play it on the radio at least twice a day; maybe it's because the theme of the song, and definitely the first line, have been done in so many songs before and after them; maybe it's because this absurdly annoying kid that I know is obsessed with this song...if you ask me, it's a combination of all three. And I agree, this does bear an irritating resemblance to "It's My Life", the only other Bon Jovi song besided this one that I absolutely hate. There's some of their material that I just don't consider very strong material, but these two songs, "Have A Nice Day" and "It's My Life" just plain annoy me. |
| Led Zeppelin – Good Times Bad Times Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I know what WheresTheBridge means...In fact, what he just said sounds quite a bit like something I'd probably say... This song is one of my favorites. I can certainly relate to it...well, who can't, really? We've all had good times and we've all had shitty times...not hard to see what this song is talking about... |
| AC/DC – Rock 'n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Well, referring to the idea brought up near the beginning of the comments about music today sucking, well...not ALL of it sucks, there's some good stuff, like Nickelback and stuff, but I'd have to agree that most of it is indeed crap. Anything close to Rock & Roll these days is the emo metal, and I find a lot of that stupid. I'm not even gonna talk about rap. And by the way...I dunno about EVERYBODY listening to the stupid 21st century music. Most of my friends can't get enough of the 70's-80's-90's rock like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen...And I'll tell you right now, about 95 percent of my music library is artrists like those. Rock and Roll will live on forever, I don't care what anyone says. Even after people like Brian Johnson, Dee Snider, and David Lee Roth are long gone, the legends will never die. |

| Evanescence – Hello Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I used to like this song a lot...And then my ex girlfriend started singing it...I never quite looked at it the same again... | |
| Black Sabbath – Iron Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |
All I have to say about the song's meaning is that I think the people who are saying it's about the man who traveled time in the movie have the right idea. I just took it for what it was, and what the lyrics said, I never gave the actual identity of "Iron Man" any thought... This song brings back memories of eighth grade...The sports band played this song and in band every day at least one trumpet player would bust out Iron Man, it always drove Ms. Barraco crazy. Good times... While I do like this song a lot, I am just tired of hearing it on the radio all the time... |
| The Shangri-Las – Leader of the Pack Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song depressed me when I first heard it... the mental image it planted in my head was without a doubt dejecting. I'm actually not sure why I like it, but I do. I always laugh to myself when I think of how much my mother hates this song. I couldn't stand Twisted Sister's cover of this song though...The way they altered the lyrics so that it was the boy telling the story and the girl kills herself...Ugh... |
| Cheap Trick – She's Tight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Why is there only one comment on this song before mine? This is such a good song! One of my favorites! I actually had little idea as to what this song meant until Levitator89 here made it very clear that the meaning was rather obvious, and now I feel stupid because I didn't see it before... |

| Creed – Higher Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What I'd like to know is what so many of these superficial idiots like newfoundfinch and *6 are doing swearing and bitching about how "Creed sucks blah blah blah" in the Creed section of this site. I have seen this in almost every page on this site...People who think the band in question sucks posting their swears and their insults about it. Listen, those who actually like the band's music don't want to put up with bleeding assholes like you guys putting them down. What the hell are people like you, who apparently consider Creed below their taste, doing in the Creed section of this site? If all you're going to do is bitch about how Creed sucks, then you may as well leave. We don't want to hear it. And also, to say that Creed sucks and are talentless would be a complete fallacy. If Creed had no talent, if they truly sucked, do you seriously think they would have gotten far at all? I think not. It takes talent to make it in the music world. Even the rappers like 50 Cent and Eminem (whose music I strongly dislike) have some degree of talent, with the synthesizers and stuff, even if their lyrics don't show much command of vocabulary... I am aware that everybody is entitled to their opinion--we are all allowed to love and hate whatever music we wish--but there IS a BIG difference between "Creed sucks" and "I don't like Creed's music" when you think about it. However, if you are one of these fools who can passionately say a band sucks, then you probably don't think. Also, to say that Creed is the greatest band to walk this earth would be, just like saying they suck, completely false. The greatest band on earth is a matter of opinion, not fact. Now, I happen to like Creed's music...They aren't my top favorite band, but I still like them. Personally I wouldn't consider "Higher" or "With Arms Wide Open" to be their absolute best songs, although they are without a doubt great. I think the people who are saying this song is portraying dreams of heaven have got the right idea...Originally when I listened to this song I pictured it just being about dreaming in general and how he doesn't want to leave his dreams, but the interpretation about it being dreams of heaven specifically does put it in a new light for me--I never really thought about it that way. I think this was the song that got me interested in Creed, and then I saw that they had a lot of other good material... |

| George Thorogood – Get A Haircut Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can't believe nobody's commented on this song yet! This, along with Bad to the Bone and I Drink Alone, is one of my favorite George Thorogood songs. He don't care what anybody says--he rocks the way he wants to, and pays no attention to people telling him how to live. Sounds a lot like me...That's why I love this song. |
| AC/DC – Big Balls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I heard somewhere that back in the time this was released, there was a news article about how Bon Scott had "Big Balls" all the time, obviously meaning he threw big parties often. This news clipping, particularly the line "Big Balls," inspired Bon to write a song about his parties...an extremely dirty-sounding song... I laugh every time I hear this song, particularly in the second verse "And everybody cums and cums again." Clever wording, very clever wording. |

| KISS – Forever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I absolutely love this song...One of THE best power ballads ever...But Goddammit every frickin' morning I wake up and it's stuck in my head! | |
