| well since I posted the song... I'll make the first comment. To me this song is about loving someone but knowing that everyone else is giving them negative feedback about you making the feeling less than mutual. Example. Ever known of anyone that you had interest in but because everyone talked of how much of a player or whore they were, you didn't even give them the chance? That's what this song is about. Tyler is trying to tell this girl that what she sees is who he is, not what everyone says he is. but he wants to know if he were what everyone else said he was, could she still love him. "Standing anonymous hoping your heart will just make up and ask for me by name" He's saying that he's standing there as someone she doesn't really know (since she's believeing rumors) and he's just hoping one day she'll find it in her heart to see the real him. just that day isn't today. | |

for one... if the song sucks... why not move on to something else without leaving a retarded ass comment. now... I'm listening to this song right now... and I've been listening to it before it even became a single. Becfore I thought I listened to it because I thought that was how my boyfriend felt... but more and more recently... I've been feeling this way. I've been with my boyfriend for a year in a half... both military he's in Iraq and I'm going there... but we just don't feel right anymore. he wants to stay a "lifetime" with me... and I find myself trying to push him away... because I don't feel like I used to. it's pretty bad... because I don't wanna leave and hurt him, but I know it has to be done. |

well let's see here. I first saw this song on the third season finale of One Tree Hill (I don't watch Grey's Anatomy). At first I didn't even pay any attention to it... til I heard it on some guys webpage. Now. I personally think it's about a person who's stressing out about any and everything and just wants to know if this other person will just stick around and forget everything together. now seeing s to how it's been said that the lead singer has said that his father has told him that "chasing girls" is like "chasing cars"... ever think that maybe this has nothing to do with a female. That perhaps the other person is some guy... or rather... a male figure who's very close to him? I mean... why would you tell a girl to waste time by thinking about girls? I'm just wondering if maybe he lost his father... is this is just his way of trying to reconnect or to cope. |

| okay y'all, the place is called song meanings. Not "not bash the song, artist, other members, and my brains". talk about what you think the song means and keep the side bar convo to yourself. opinions do not always have to expressed, just like assholes don't need to be exposed. Opinions are like assholes... everybody has one. | |

My boyfriend has a love hate relationship to this song because of the ex girlfriend. Personally this song is beautiful to me but I think it could have so many different meanings. Also, it kind of makes me regret stuff I did. I think she's trying to make sure that the man she wants to be with can tell her anything and everthing without worry of it getting out. Or she could be saying that she wants to know everything there is to know about him because she's that into him. "I feel such a connection even when you're far away." I can relate that to my current relationship. I'm in CA and he's in TX. we're both military so it's hard to really see a whole lot of each other, but anytime that we talk even if we argue, I feel totally in tune with him as though he were right in front of me. Love can make really strong ties if you allow it to do so. |

From what I've read in everyone else's posts... people are just really being negative towards the artist. This is sheer opinion but this site is to express your views on what the song means, not how much of a dick you think the singer is. But like I said, it's sheer opinion and opinions are like assholes because everyone has one. now... what I think the song means could go in two different directions. Mainly I think he's describing his thoughts towards a falling out he's having in a relationship whether it be a girlfriend or a friend, and he feels that they're spending so much time worrying about it all going down the drain, as opposed to before when they did what was necessary to make things work. And perhaps he's throwin up the white flag cause he wants things to just be okay. hence "We're consentratin' on fallin' apart We were contenders, now throwin' the fight I just wanna believe, I just wanna believe, I just wanna believe in us" now the parts that people so eloquently branded as "cocky". Have you ever broken up with someone or were about to break up with someone and one of you said, "I'm the right one for you" or "you won't ever find anyone else like me" or "You'll come back..."? anything like that? because deep down you that's how you feel about the other person but you're too ashamed to seem like the vulnerable one so make THEM seem desperate? that's what I got from the first few lines. but that's just me. you all can go ahead and rip my thoughts to shreds now. ta ta. |
