| this song would make anyone from a small town happy. i grew up in a tiny suburb of tulsa and then went off to college, got a real job, ect.. but this reminds me of high school and not knowing anyone outside your town and how much fun you can have even though you are young and naive and dont have many other experiences. you wanted to get away, but the small towns and nights of drinking and not accomplishing anything become really endearing later on. | |

i know it was along time ago, for those like HILDA who were wondering about the blankets on the beach part: im pretty sure that he is just using this as a comparison for a sudden change from depressing dullness to joy, referencing that he "went out in the rain", it is raining outside, and then "suddenly everything changed" meaning it stopped raining and now he sees that the world is happy and people are having fun, ie "spreading blankets on the beach" awesome song, conor has it right, the perfect love isnt overly glamourized, its just happiness at being with someone and trust and hard work. the most sincere love song i have ever heard. |
