| The Doors – Wishful Sinful Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is clearly about planet earth. "Water covers everything in blue" Wishful Sinful describes the people of earth, hopeful yet sinful in their actions. "Wishful, sinful, wicked blue Water covers you Earth Wishful, sinful, wicked you Eveybody is wicked Can't escape the blue" Environmental? Political? Hard to tell, mabye thats why Jim didn't like it appearently. |

I got an idea of something we can do with a gun Sink load and fire till the empire Reaps what they've sown (Obviously highly against 'the empire' AKA late 80's US Gov, suggesting we take to revolution or just take a gun and. . .) Shoot shoot shoot till their minds are open Shoot shoot shoot till their eyes are closed Push push push till we get some motion Push push push till the bombs explode (Progress toward more open minded culture. The entire song is just about what to do about our mentally imperialistic government, and eventually letting the truth become an ingrained part of the people) |

| Soundgarden – Hands All Over Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Yeah you guys got it. Chris's younger days where he tried blatantly telling people about things that were obvious to him and he cared about greatly, such as environmentalism. It seems mostly on albums released after Louder than Love are less politically motivated, it appears the record labels censored him up or theres a slight possibility he decided his message wasn't getting across. 'Hands all over the words I utter Change them into what you want to Like balls of clay Put your hands away Yeah, put your hands away' Looks like telling them to put their hands away only makes em fight back. |

| Soundgarden – Ugly Truth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think Topchris got a little bit of the meaning. I doubt its about Chris personally, most of his music doesn't seem so self involved, but more politically involved. In general, this song is most likely about the public of American/western culture consistantly believing other people's fake truths, and not the real 'ugly' truth. He doesn't say whether that ugly truth is cultural and mental imperialism, censorship, environmental crisis, or one of the other similar topics Chris explores much during this time period, but I'd assume it's along those lines. |
