| Counting Crows – Round Here Lyrics

This is the song that introduced me to Counting Crows... my dance teacher choreographed a solo dance to it for herself several years ago and I remeber being amazed by the song and her interpretation of it (now I always imagine Maria to look like her). I agree with everyone who loves the acoustic version- I finally found it online, and it is full of so much more emotion (in my opinion) that the one in they published.
This could be seen as a love song, in a way, but it could be about anyone- yourself or someone you know- who is going through a hard time, and how lost and frustrated you feel when you can't fix it.
Quick Question: Does anyone know if "the girl in the car in the parking lot" is Maria? Or someone else? It's the one part of the song I've never been able to figure out... |

zeroangel says Adrian woke up from the coma... I'd like to believe that but the tone is just to melancholy. I agree that it might mean he died or possibly that he was moved out of a hospital into like a life support system in his own home, which is possible in some cases, I've heard of it being done usually in hopeless sorts of cases where they don't think the doctors can make things any better so they might as well be with their family. |

I see this song as a relationship song, too, but I see it as a song about two "just friends" who watched each other go in and out of many romantic relationships before getting together with each other. I might be totally off, but that's the story I visualize when I hear this song. |

It reminds me of a bunch of different friends of mine who are always complaining that they're "misunderstood", but I get the feeling sometimes that they go out of their way to not let people understand them... this definition doesn't work perfectly with the song, but it's one angle. |

I'm a Christian and not at all offended by this song. It reminds me not to take myself too seriously, which I tend to do. I think if your religion makes you feel imprisoned-- "They built you a temple and locked you away"-- then it's definitely not the one for you. That being said, I know many Catholics who have not "died young"... symbolically or otherwise. I think you can be "good" and still live life to the fullest. Either way, I think it's a great song... |
