| London After Midnight – Spider And The Fly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Spider & the Fly seems like a fitting title due to the harshness of the metaphor. It seems as though he is the spider & the person he is singing to would be the fly. The fly is of course cautious of his actions. The spider is trying to trick the fly into going away with him... However, the metaphor could also be for a person who wants to be with someone, but that person doesn't want to be with them, so he offers them a grandness of sorts. He tries telling them that he'll take them away somewhere that's grand, however, he only has a hidden agenda of his own, just as the spider does to eat the fly... |

| Demon Hunter – My Throat Is An Open Grave Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song has never made me think of God or religion. The main theme is Nostalgia. It is hard to depict exactly the aspects of the song due to the abstract detail. However, it isn't hard to observe that the man has been through much in his life... Many memories. "We lay face down in pale solitude To save face, we pulled our walls in front of you To the same place where we danced in front of you We fell from grace and watched the hope fall from your face" -He was taken in by someone who made him feel less & less of himself. It makes me feel like it was someone of whom he loved. This inferrence is given to me due to the fact that he states that "all the love was so gone". I picture a place where he is unhappy to begin with. A place where everyone, but him are having fun (danced in front of you). It feels as though at first he isn't referring to himself, but someone else; perferrably the person who has caused hurt in him. Because it says that they fell from grace makes me feel as though the relationship he had with this person was once beautiful, however, now the hope is gone because of all of the complications. "I can't face Afraid if someone notices I lose my place Fractured, broken, paralyzed I need some space tear me open, analyze" He doesn't want to show that he is hurt by the loss of the person he loved because he doesn't want to seem weak. He feels as though the space might heal his wounds. "and all those broken promises" The promises are all broken because they are no longer in the relationship they once were. The could've promised to get married, to run away together, to have children, to grow old together... & yet, it's all in the past now. The Chorus: "This isn't me i used to say" -I always told myself that I'd never let a relationship get in my way... I'd never let someone mean that much to me. "All the love was so gone" -I'm no longer connected to that person... "It feels good to be alive I've been dead for so long" -Before I got into this relationship, I couldn't feel. & now, I feel the hurt of not having this person. That's why it feels good to be alive again, all of the emotions were stalled, they were unable to continue. He's been dead because no one has cared about him. "Wake up screaming, I'm awake and dreaming, And I won't stop breathing 'til my heart stops beating" -These memories cause just as much torment in him as they do rejoice. He has nightmares of the way it used to be... However, he refuses to let this experience take control of his life. He will not allow this person to control who he is with this nostalgia, he will continue, he will live on & find someone worthy of his love... someone who will keep those promises. The Song title to me displays a sense of the depth of it. "My Throat Is An Empty Grave" -An empty grave because he refuses to let himself die, his throat because he sings how he feels. |

What is this a forum? You're supposed to convery how the lyrics make you feel, what they mean to you, not whether or not the band sounds like a new Iron Maiden, which I might add, they don't. Anyway... |

| Into Eternity – Morose Seclusion Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Words are useless. The game could be played by yourself or some other force, however in this song I preceive it as being against oneself considering the disposition of the album. Again, the theme of this album seems to be memories, loss, & a distorted & uncontrolled view of the world (dreams). The game is played by yourself because you follow your own emotions. These emotions control you. You cannot describe emotion in words or reason, emotions defy both of these standards. However, if you look beyond that view, that view of emotion, in a place where you no longer have to regret, etc. then there is hope, there is a will. Dreams... Within dreams it is all a distant memory.. Not unlike an 'ignorance is bliss' sort of deal. A very beautiful & yet woeful song, if not seemingly enough, a monolog of sorts. It wraps up the feelings of the entire album pretty well. |

| Into Eternity – Black Sea Of Agony Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Part 2. A different pace than the last song. The last song is to express the sadness, the second expresses the anger & resentment as well as the woe. The "Black Sea of Agony" is a metaphor for his memories which bind him to his current state of mind. "The ocean crashes down again A black sea drowning me" -Him being set into the ocean is him lifing his normal life full of spite. The ocean crashes down when he remembers something ill-starred again. It drowns him because it's all consuming. A sea, vast & wide, a sea that's never ending. "Alone I drift off again" -Can't hurt myself if I'm alone, no one to hurt, no one to hurt me, no ill memories anymore. "Take away my sanity" -Too much to take, I cannot hold on, so if I give up my mind (my conscience) I can forget. "Block out all the thoughts of inner rage Protect me from myself" -The thoughts conspire due to the way he's been treated in life. Protect him from who he is now because he has so much hate, so much that he can no longer control... He has lost who he was. "I close my eyes & pray for the end" -Could be death, could be the end of the sea (the memories). He's looking for answers... But, the sea is too much for him. He's given up because it seems fruitless... Now all he wants is relief. |

| Into Eternity – Buried Into Oblivion Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Just as I explained from: "Elysium Dream", this seems to be another battle between reality & dreams. Also, a 2 part song, Second part is: "Black Sea of Agony". All that is left in his life is the hatred he holds for all that have wronged him. "Emptiness fills time" nothing left. "Mental illness..." Unable to have rational thoughts... All that can be seen is the hurt, & confusion about who he is or who he was, he struggles with. "Self worth decreasing" -No longer feels as though he is a whole person anymore. All there is is that person who once was. Constantly feeling sadness crush up against himself. Grief leads him astray because it's what drives his soul. Nothing seems real because he cannot accept what has happened... So much, that it is hard to take it all in. "Impassable; Screaming... In Oblivion" The only way he believes he can go from now on is down. The memories that keep him alive, will be the death of him, because they are what he always has set on his mind. A very somber song that describes the struggle to forget the past with the struggle to find out what the meaning of life is. Must listen to both songs for full effect. |

| Into Eternity – Elysium Dream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
An Elysium is a greek heaven. Though one is shrouded in despair, a dream may become more to you than reality, however, whence that dream is discovered to be false, it is only despair waiting for you. Because of all that has happened to him, he feels that he no longer has a point for continuing his life. He feels cold because his dreams were false, the silence is deafening because there is no one left for him. "The Blackness helps to forget" -Often times one can find solitude in the darkness. A calm sort of serene atmosphere is almost more than always better suited than one with much light. "The Sweet aroma of death" -To be dead would be a better turn for me, because I am empty inside, I once was left with a dream of better things, but this dream is simply a dream. & as for the last stanza, reiterating the first... "We've fucked up, my feelings are dead." That dream, of someone waiting for him, the one that is false, is false because something happened in their relationship that created a barrier between them. His feelings are dead because he no longer can return them because of this barrier he faces... It is the loss of will power. The defeat of his own self confidence. His ability to depict between what is real & what is false, believes him to be worthy of the ultimate sentence: Death. |
