Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Crash. you, Susan, and shard can all go suck chicken liver!!!! Oooooohhh....got nuthin to say now, huh Crash? |
The Killers – When You Were Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow, this song is really good... Definetly shows how the Killers are influenced by Springsteen... Has a great chorus, with the off-kilter token-Eighties synths! |
Babyshambles – Loyalty Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Well...Pete Doherty is out of his fucking mind. Now that I've gotten that through, this song's really good, proves that no matter how baked he is, he can still write memorable songs! But, Jesus Christ, seriously, he needs to lay off that stuff...I mean, in magazines, like every week, "Pete Doherty caught white-handed in drug scandal!!!" |
Led Zeppelin – Black Dog Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually, I haven't heard "Stairway" on the radio too... But, that's probably because it's 8 minutes long... Though, whenever it IS played, the DJ always announces it, in my town, by saying "Get out your lighters, folks, here's the greatest song ever made", and then plays it. Actually, in my town, "Whole Lotta Love" is played the most... |
Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey shard, really, I don't give a fuck!! FUCK YOU!! |
Audioslave – Revelations Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Anyone know where I can hear this song? I heard it's going to be on the Madden soundtrack... |
Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Now I can cross that off on the things I need to do before I die! Next is meeting Dave Grohl and getting laid, lol! |
Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 17 years ago |
IDK, I disagree, but whatever... Hey, I just posted here, because I...I... I JUST MET EDDIE VEDDER! I didn't go to the concert (I went to the Connecticut show), but I was in Cali visiting my uncle, who plays in a band called Heaven and Earth. There was a party, and who else, but Eddie Vedder and Matt Cameron arrive! My uncle walks up to 'em, tells 'em they're my fav. band, and I shook Vedder's hand, got an autograph, everything! I mean, he's like my hero! And, the thing was, he sat down and my uncle and I had a discussion! I told him how my fav. record was Vitalogy, I asked him what was the idea behind "Stupid Mop" (He laughed and mumbled something about being crazy back then...) . I told him how I thought "Corduroy" is the best song ever, I mean, God, why would Ed Ved want to chat with a fifteen-year old kid? I praised him over his new album, asked him what the next single would be (Hinted towards "Severed Hand") and then he and my uncle talked.... Wow, I just read that over, and I sound like an over-excited six-year-old... My buddies refuse to believe me...Wait until I show 'em the autograph! |
Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, I have to admit, this forum IS pretty entertaining... and Pearl Jam IS the best band ever, lol... Though I think Green Day write better songs than FOB... |
Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes, Layne Staley is great... I think we understood that after your first post, lol... Though, and I like most of those bands you listed, I still disagree about Staind, I feel their earlier stuff just isn't that good, but the problem I have is with Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, Fuel, Cold, and Creed, who are really just post-grunge cookie-cutter alt. bands with a couple of good songs to their name... And while I think Godsmack is better than many people put them out to be, Disturbed just aren't that talented, as they don't have any variety in their music... But, most of those bands (Especially Pearl Jam; I would recommend the Foo Fighters) are great, so no worries! |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Young and angry is good, but young and educated is better... Gotta know what you're fighting against... Trust me, I watched V for Vendetta, lol... |
Foo Fighters – Stacked Actors Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of my favorite FF songs... The music during the verses has a jazzy, island-like feel, leading into the charging chorus. Grohl has said it himself, it's about his disgust for actors. I have even asked myself from time to time: "Why am I paying money to watch someone be someone else?" Hah, I can totally relate to the message... |
Foo Fighters – Walking After You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Acts as a lullaby in the same vein as, say, Pearl Jam's "Around the Bend". But there is also a level of creepiness in the lyrics that gives the song a chilling feel. The repitition of the line "I'm on your back" suggests the protagonist can't get over breakup/divorce, even the title suggests stalking. I love the way Grohl sings this one... |
Justin Timberlake – SexyBack Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hah, they tried to hide the fact that JT can't sing with all that studio feedback. This song will sound HORRIBLE in concert! At least it's better than all the other cheesy shit that JT released, although the message sucks. |
Heaven and Earth – When a Blind Man Cries Lyrics | 17 years ago |
One of my favorite blues songs that NOBODY (Seeing as I'm the first to post) knows about. |
Pearl Jam – Who You Are Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Everyone always says this song marked a turning point for Pearl Jam, where they shied away from the mainstream. Well, I may agree, but I view this song as a success, seeing as it DID reach no.1 on the modern rock chart. I'm also angered that there is only five posts on this song, where lesser known songs garnered more. Did people just forget about this song? I hope not, because it is one of PJ's best. I see this song as anti-suicidal. Each of us has a part and purpose in life, despite all that may happen around us, and to end it would be destroying that purpose that you were supposed to hand out. No one knows what their purpose is- to cure diseases, to become a world leader, or to even help a poor soul find his way. At least that's how I look at it. The Eastern-tinged instrumental break in the middle of the song is so amazing- imagine going from "Spin the Black Circle" to this! Hah, no wonder why people were thrown offguard. |
Hinder – Get Stoned Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Goddammit, this is my guiltiest guilty pleasure. I know the message sucks. I know the singer, well, can't sing. I know the band really isn't that talented, I know all that. But, I hate to say it, I like this song. Hey, I have to give Hinder credit, to be able to make a song get stuck in the public's head is an achievement in and of itself. Now, maybe if Hinder weren't just another cookie-cutter alternative band, I would enjoy the song even more... |
The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow, all my life, I always thought the chorus was "Hell, children, is our shelter today". If I'm not the biggest idiot in the world, I don't know who is... Anyways, the music to the song has a dark bluesy feel, kind of like Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks". I always thought it was an anti-war song, because of my presumed chorus, but now I think it's about heroin. Clever little way of masking the meaning of the song, kind of like Pearl Jam's "Of a Girl". |
Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is one of those songs when, say you are driving in a car, and you are about to pull up to your house, and then this song comes on. You can't help but keep on driving. The beginning is really a drug-induced haze of guitar work, then opens up to a chanting chorus and a whole lot of guitar riffs. "Sailingallalone" is right, this is one of the best American rock songs ever. I really don't take too much of the meaning of the song, but, come on, it's Aerosmith! Sex and drugs, baby, sex and drugs! |
Nirvana – Dumb Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, this song also describes ME in a way... Besides the hangover part, I've never drank alcohol...YET!! I don't know, but this song has a distinct feel that is lacking in all other Nirvana songs. It's a rather beautiful song, but goes by on a steady pace, and the way Cobain sings it gives the song a rather chilling feeling, reminiscent of "Polly". (In fact, Cobain once joked that "Dumb" and "Polly" are the same song!) I've taken the song as this: the protagonist has always gone through life acting like he's unhappy, until he realizes that he has all he needs and has been taking it for granted, and cracks a smile. That reminds me of myself because I always used to pretend I had a tough life, when, in fact, I was rather spoiled with everything I had, my parents were happily married, and I was always surrounded by great people. Awesome song. |
Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah I know dirtyjew!!! I can't believe it either!! Let's all jump for joy and sing songs!! |
Fergie – London Bridge Lyrics | 17 years ago |
HipHopChick, he was being sarcastic... By no means is Fergie a great songwriter... Wow. |
Foo Fighters – My Poor Brain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, this song definetely has similarities to Pearl Jam's Last Exit, both are fast off-kilter rock songs, except this song has more depth (Although I think Pearl Jam is the better band). Awesome song... |
Foo Fighters – Lonely As You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Strider, I seriously doubt this song is about masturbation... |
Foo Fighters – Generator Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song, with a chilling vibe to it like that of "Everlong" Hey, anyone hear Grohl using a voicebox? Yeah, reminds me of Frampton (Except Grohl doesn't suck). Anyone know there is a video for this? I saw it on YouTube. I think this song is about suicide...it's my viewpoint, and since others agree, I'm sticking with it...kind of like the opposite to "My Hero"... |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Metallica isn't THAT bad in their "selling out" period, yielding some great songs, such as "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Sad but True", "Fuel", "Frantic", "St.Anger", and "Wherever I May Roam". Granted I'm not really a Metallica kind of guy, I'm more into alt. stuff, and I don't really like their '80s albums, not because the music sucks, but because I don't like thrash metal (I'm sorry, but I can't really differentiate one song from another; they all kind of sound alike). Though I understand their role in the metal scene. |
Foo Fighters – Good Grief Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I was always a big Foo Fighters fan... but I never liked their first album. It sounded much rawer and grungier than their other works. After listening to In Your Honor (FF's finest achievement) for the umpteenth time, I decided to give their first album another try. I bought it off of iTunes, and instantly loved it. This was one of the standout tracks. The meaning of the song is in the eye of the beholder, but I agree with lukefun that it's about suicide, or even hatred of life, or "phoniness" as Holden Caulfield might call it. |
Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yeah, I came off wrong in my answer. |
Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Now, I did bash FOB before. It wasn't because they are famous, it was because they became famous but aren't that talented musically, as compared to many other bands. Now, since then, I've become more open-minded. That is not saying that I like FOB, that's just saying that I respect them. And you can't generalize metal without generalizing emo. Although the bands that were named before suck. Disturbed writes the same song over and over again, Slayer, well, just sucks, but I disagree with Oogy on Staind. Their albums have consistenly gotten better and better. Their Dysfunction album sucked. It was re-hashed nu-metal, with a couple highlights, like Mudshovel and Home. Break the Cycle is a good album, although it contains filler, the songs For You, Fade, Outside, Epiphany, and It's Been Awhile more than make up for it. 14 Shades of Gray is their best album, every song is great. Chapter V was just as good, featuring the awesome songs Run Away, Schizophrenic Conversations, and Falling. Now, lyrically, Lewis, while he does stretch into cliche-land sometimes, portrays his emotions very effectively. Now, he had a VERY bad childhood, so you would think that every song would be bleak, but he can write some very uplifting and memorable songs. There ARE good metal bands, like Tool and stuff, although most of the good ones have passed us by. Actually, though I don't see how Clapton is in the discussion, Led Zeppelin DID influence many metal bands, arguably starting the genre themselves. I listen mostly to bands like Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters, though I am rather open-minded and have other types of bands in my music catalogue as well. |
Audioslave – Original Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Someone told me that Revelations will be Cornell's last album with the band, could anyone confirm this or not? I sure hope he doesn't leave... |
Stone Temple Pilots – Lady Picture Show Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song... Poppy, and Beatles-like... This song represents the change in the guard for STP... But who says change isn't good? |
Foo Fighters – DOA Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hah, yeah, but I doubt that Grohl is a huge HP fan. |
Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually bookworm, I am only fifteen. And most of that stuff DOES come before the album is released, I clearly stated that. You asked I question and I tried to answer it. I wasn't trashing Panic, I was just answering your question. And if I don't like a song, I should be able to comment on it. Free speech, anyone? And I agree that people shouldn't go into a forum and be like: "THIS BAND SUCKS!!!". I mean, I try to present reasons why I don't like the band. |
Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey, bigschlong, I went into that website thinking you were serious! You disgusting little.... Ugh. I suppose I should've guessed by your name that it was a joke. |
Candlebox – You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great song... Not as memorable as Far Behind, but close... Surpised it achieved such success... Not really a mainstream song... Awesome nonetheless... |
Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Well, if they were only out for a year..human logic would tell you that answer. It takes a couple of months to record and refine an album, not to mention the time it would take to actually write and come up with the music for each song. Now, one cannot just release an album with no hype and expect it to go platinum. There is incessant touring that needs to be done, and a large fanbase would be needed. It would take some months to build that fanbase, to build up a hype level among Americans, like, for instance, have a "young new band" section on MTV or in Rolling Stone. It also helps to use an indie label, to build street cred. The first single needs to be the one obvious song on the album that would appeal to the masses. So, they chose this song. Now, there are the PR meetings, building press, and all that, which takes some time. The first video should be released before the album to build hype, and the 2nd single should be like a monthe-and-a-half later, so people have time to get to know the first one. If other singles are released, the same time intervals are used. Then there's the release of the album, and touring to support it. Then it takes time for VH1 and MTV to pick up the video into heavy rotation. So, you see, a band cannot just start playing and get famous (You have to be insanely talented, which Panic! does not really have). It takes over a year to do these things. |
Fergie – London Bridge Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Guys, this has to be ONE OF THE WORST SONGS EVER!! God, this proves that Fergie does not have enough talent to make good songs on her own. (Even though Black Eyed Peas didn't really make good songs in the first place) It really isn't catchy, the music is ear-shattering, and the lyrics are so stupid, the suckiness of them cannot be comprehended by the human mind. C'mon, "London Bridge". How incredibly stupid. I hope and pray to God that this won't be a major radio hit, we already have too much shit polluting our airwaves anyway. |
Foo Fighters – In Your Honor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The song is also in the point of view of the person as he's about to die, after the act was done. The screaming may represent the last strains of life. |
Foo Fighters – In Your Honor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
BEST-FF-SONG-EVER. This is so amazing. The dark, scary music behind the rather beautiful lyrics creates an unnerving feeling, like something is off with the narrator ("Who" the person will die for is never made clear; which leads me to think the person had this thought forced upon him, like a sense of over-bearing radicality) Scary thoughts come to mind, one of the first things would be the suicide bombers, dying for a fake and forced belief, and a person under the strains of dictatorship. The ending, in which Grohl lends out a ferocious scream, gives me the sense that the person is angry (Obviously, who screams like that for no reason) and is looking to inflict damage upon someone or, and this is the widely regarded thought towards the song, protecting someone from another by fighting for one's life, fighting to the death. I might have looked way too deep into the song, but it is THAT amazing. Blows away anything the Foos have ever done (That's not saying their other songs aren't awesome, granted, FF has one of the best song catalogues, well, ever). |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hey, all of you racist assholes who just posted here, FUCK OFF! |
Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, I think Stadium Arcadium is RHCP's best album. And I think that Nirvana are great musicians. Cobain was a talented guitarist, just check out his Unplugged video for that. Grohl is actually one of the best drummers, well, ever. Funny how the drumming performances often go overlooked. And since most of the melodies to Nirvana songs were bass-based, Novoselic had his fair-share of the work. |
Jurassic 5 – Work It Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wow.....now, I really don't like rap, but this, well, it's just different. The lyrics actually mean something worthwhile and the video also teaches a lesson... This is the perfect song to chill-out to. |
Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, PtolemyKitty, those were some good points, but I will continue to say what I want to say. I disagree with you on the grounds that you can't post on songs you dislike, but oh well.... I'm not going to call anybody out or anything, only if they say something really dumb, like "Pearl Jam is gay". Then, action will have to ensue. KissFromaRose, Bon Jovi is good, but some of those bands I really don't know or dislike. I hate My Chemical Romance. They ARE more talented than some other bands, but I just don't really like their stuff. Okay, HATE is a strong word. I'll use "dislike". AFI? God, I hate their whole image. They overdo the whole "goth" look. "Miss Murder" (I think that's the name) is catchy, but I don't think I'll like other songs in their catalogue. I do not know who Atreyu or Funeral for a Friend are.... I vaguely know the other bands, but not too much. Okay, Bon Jovi isn't THAT good.... |
The Black Eyed Peas – Bebot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is the song that was playing during Sin City- you know, the part where Jessica Alba is doing the dance with the whip. I'm not saying I like this song, I just like that scene. Who doesn't? |
Paris Hilton – Stars Are Blind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm not "trying to sound tough". Okay, here's what I'm going to do, to erase all thoughts of "you only hate it because it's Paris Hilton", I'm going to listen to the video with the monitor turned off. Okay, I just did that (Okay, I did it before I wrote this comment). Let's talk about the music. It's obvious she was looking for some reggae-feel to the song. It's just that the melody isn't that good. It's really just recycled island music fabricated against a techno beat. I will say this: she tries her best, almost too hard, to make this song catchy. Her singing, while it does sound, well, fake (Come on, you have to know that she was immensely helped by the studio) creates the island feel perfectly. Some people will say that if a song is catchy, it's good. Some people will say that it's hard to write such a catchy song, and we should give her credit. You know what, she did try her best. But when it's all said and done, she's just not a musician. If a song is catchy, it does not mean it's good. Catchiness relies mostly on being stuck in one's head- it's not hard to do that. And, really, it's not even that catchy. The song starts, and never really goes anywhere. It's a bad song. A really bad song. And I do agree that while Paris is in the spotlight, other much more talented bands or singers are pushed out of the limelight. Nowadays, the most famous bands/singers are usually not the most talented. Today, press means everything. And Paris has the press. That's why this song will probably become really famous, despite being void of any talent. |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah, I have to agree on that subject. While I do not support the war or the Bush admin. much, I have to say that soldiers choose to fight for pride and to protect their homeland. I read somewhere that Tre' Cool said that most soldiers fight because of, well, television. They see the ads, and how much they glorify the armed forces, and immediately feel compelled to join. I have said before that Green Day are immature in the way they express their beliefs in their songs (This being the prime example; I listen to it mainly because it's upbeat and I like the melody). If you like politically influenced bands, check out my fav. band, Pearl Jam, most namely on "World Wide Suicide". |
Nickelback – Far Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No offense Nickelback fans (I like some Nickelback stuff; not that crazy about them) but the video to this song is corny. I understand the message, but, come on, could the ending to it be more predictable? God, Nickelback mellowed out more, at least on their singles. (Well, besides"Animals") I don't really like this song. As I said before, I think it's kind of corny. Of course, that's what I felt about Pearl Jam's "Better Man" upon first listen, and, especially since I know the backstory of the song, it's one of my favorites. I tried to be as little-negative as I could. Nickelback are much better than most of the shit that's out there, although the critics don't seem to agree (I don't really follow critics' views anyway). |
Pearl Jam – Daughter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hey X Disasterpiece X, good point! Now go fuck yourself! |
Pearl Jam – Life Wasted Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No, it's not about Cobain. Although it does fit, Vedder has stated what it's about (Read my article I posted above). This song is awesome, and is climbing up the modern rock charts. |
Audioslave – Original Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Most of my buddies hate this song. Well, they don't hate it, they're just disappointed. I'll admit, I wish the first single was a bit stronger, but who says the first single has to be the best song? Heck, on most albums, I love all the songs, even the non-hit songs. And, anyways, it is a really good song. Like kirbsta said, it gets a bit repetitve (Cornell sings the chorus line a bit too many times). But otherwise, it's good. Also, I've heard "Sound of a Gun", which I like, and Blender magazine says that the title track "Revelations" is good, although I haven't heard it yet. |
