I think that this song contains a certain duality that pertains to both god and a girl. He does seem to invoke religous imagery through the use of hallelujah as well as the apple candy. He says that she smells of apple candy, apple being the forbiden fruit. This hints at sin on her part. This could be interpreted as either her cheating on a boyfriend, her religion, or both. |

I remember seeing Ben Lee for the first time on MTV's 120 minutes. He played Tornadoes. What truly struck me about him was that it was just him with his guitar and a boombox playing a background beat. It was a simple yet beautiful performance that has haunted me for many years. |

I have lived in Central Illinois for 27 years. There is an old wives tale around here about a bird hitting the window. If a bird hits the window, it means that someone close to you has died. I am not sure about the signifigance of the cardinal other than it being the state bird of Illinois. |
