The way I see it is that she's been in a lot of really crappy relationships. "I wish I could buy back the woman you stole," references that someone may have used her for sex and left her, and the "my loving goes under the fog," could mean that she tried to maintain the relationship, but it was in vain. Also, when she says, "I'm just one poor baby 'cause, well, I believed them all," I think she is saying that she has tried to trust and believe the men in her life, but they always screwed her over. As for the "walk my winners out" part, she may be saying something like that all of these men were successful people. She may also be saying that there were a few lovers that were kind to her and never hurt her, and that is why they are winners and should be shown off like in a pageant or an animal show, the winners are walked out in the end. |

I agree. I've heard that too. I have to say, no matter what, this song always puts me in a good mood. |

I like this song very much. This is a rather morbid song, though, in the beginning, at least. True, but morbid. "Please don't ask me why True as a sky everyone is born to die" I think it means simply that he doesn't know why people die, but they do, and it's unavoidable. "So take your time but don't take mine lose yourself but don't lose your mind" Maybe it's because John was shot, but when I heard this line, I thought of murder. "Take your time," like he's saying to live your life as best you can. "but don't take mine," because no one deserves to have their life cut short like that, especially if someone just kind of decides to kill. "lose yourself, but don't lose your mind," to me, kind of means to let your mind wander, but don't let it wander too far, or it won't find it's way back. "you can't regret what you forget if only you could forget it" I think that kind of means that there's no reason to forgive if you can forget, which is almost exactly how the line is written, so I think that's pretty literal. "somewhere out there inbetween the moon and the sea I'll be waiting for you, my dear, so wait for me" Somewhere between the moon and the sea, it sounds like a spiritual/magical kind of scene, so I can only assume by this he means something along the lines of eternity, since the first line of the song is about death. Also, with the second half of the verse, he seems kind of scared to go it alone. Being someone who is absolutely terrified of being alone, I understand this. He would wait for his 'dear,' so he wants to be sure that she would wait for him, too. |

Never mind. Just read all the comments now, and I agree, it's probably nothing more than a skeleton song. Still, I think that if there weren't a real skeleton in her living room, I would have been at least slightly correct. But I admit I was wrong up there. |

| Kate Nash – Skeleton Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |

In my opinion, this song is not about an actual friend. It isn't about an imaginary friend, either. When I hear this song, I think of the term "skeleton in the closet," which is usually is meant as a metaphor for an embarrassing secret. I think that she refers to the skeleton as her friend because, perhaps, her secret is strange to others, but comforting to her. She hates it for making people think that there's something wrong with her, but at the same time, she can't live without it because it's become some kind of security blanket for her. When she's talking about the flesh and blood, she's referring to the fact that the secret can't really be hidden, but when she's talking about the skeleton wearing clothes, she may be saying that she could try to dress the skeleton up as something else, but no matter what you do, it's just too obvious. So, all summed up, I think that the skeleton is supposed to be a secret that she has grown attached to (perhaps a nasty habit), and she feels like it makes her a freak. She wants to destroy it, but it would be too hard, because she has grown too attached to it. She realizes that even if you tried to disguise the secret as something else, it would still be too obvious, so she decides to live with it. Then again, maybe it's just a cute song about a girl and a skeleton. |

| Sea Wolf – You're A Wolf Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think that the stream/river/ocean bits are about him running towards a final goal (maybe death). Like epicfail, the song immediately reminded me of a classic werewolf story, where only his true love can kill the wolf. I think that perhaps the gypsy woman was foreshadowing that he would have to search far and wide for his true love, and once he did, it would be his demise. Maybe by getting out of the town, he's trying to run away from something, like himself. Also, the song makes me think of a lone wolf theme, like he's looking for love, and feels alone, but he has a long way to go before he finds her. |

It almost seems like he's in love with a girl who loves him more like a brother. "You have come to love me lightly, you have come to hold me tight" sounds like he's saying, she loves me a little, but not in the way I want, since it's not hinting to anything definitely romantic. Also, "why can't we just look the other way" seems like it could be, 'why can't you just think of me the way I think of you. Please change your impression of me.' Overall, my impression of the song is like he's trying to say,"Please love me like a lover, rather than only a friend or brother. You're amazing, and you need someone who will treat you like the person you are. Give me a chance. I've been so lonely for so long." |

OH MY GOOODDDD. Yes, I like Scrubs and all, but this IS NOT a SCRUBS FORUM. So please. Didn't mean to be rude. :) I think it's that he loves her, but every time they are alone, they get upset, but trying to be strong, his girlfriend trys do hard to not seem upset, she makes it worse. He just wants her to get her feelings out before they destroy everything they have together. He wants her to feel safe. I think. |

I luff this song. It's put me to sleep a million times. References to Berkowitz, yes. Elliott Smith is not a killer though. Perhaps there were cases when he felt a connection with berkowitz. I doubt it though. i did do some research on the son of sam in a crime website and in most cases when he attacked, two people were together. Just a thought. Also, perhaps elliott was angry or upset by someone who had moved on and now they're with someone else. upset enough to want them to die? |

Love this song. So so so much. One of my favorites. It reminds me of Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (already mentioned) which is coincidentally my favorite movie. It describes the plot. The famous phrase of the movie is the title. case closed. |
