It is about a fish, but the fish is symbolic of someone who is stuggling to escape from some sort of personal (and not a physical) prison. There is the beautiful imagery of someone wanting to free their fish by showing them what the rest of the world is like, but in the end, survival is up to the fish. |

Microtonic may not be a word but Microtones are the notes between the half steps... and Microtonic waves would, therefore, be sound waves resulting from those microtones.
As far as the meaning... microtones could be "trapped" between the half steps... which are what we call notes. So Microtonic waves exist but aren't named notes (like Bb or A# etc...) so they are outcasts and nobodies. Perhaps the narrator is saying that he and whomever he is singing to are outcasts imprisoned within the walls of the acceptable. |
