I still can not decide if it's about phone sex or about going to a club and having a good, kinky dance time. Both seem to fit so well..it's too hard to choose which I should believe is the correct meaning of the song. I wish Hikki were here to ask, lol. Anyway, I kind of like how she's not afraid to write and sing about sex. It's completely natural, guys. Now, the drug possibility, well, I don't know, but I don't blame her if she really is referencing it in a way to reference having a good time. I would be slightly surprised, but, I wouldn't really care. Sex, though - there's nothing wrong at all with sex and you guys who are like "omg, my innocent little Hikki who sings my Kingdom Hearts songs is singing about getting hot in clubs and having phone sex11!!!1" need to wake up. She's a woman, she's not 13. Maybe I'm just biased because I love Hikki, but damn it, if she wants to sexily reference intercourse in her songs, who am I to try and stop her? :P Honestly, I think at least two or three songs on this album have a sexual reference in them. She was probably trying to help the album sell in the US since this was the first US album technically (not counting "Cubic U/Precious"), and we all know what sells in the US -- sex!! |

It is about love. And sex. To put it bluntly. It's about how life is too short, and you only have one. Once this is over, it's just over. You never come back and get any second chances. And although people do enjoy their lives still when older, it's just not exactly the same. You will never get the years 20-40 years old back once they're gone. Yeah, I get what you're saying. Because when I first heard this song (and many of the other songs on this album of hers) I was sharing your opinion to the 'T'. But after I listened more to this song, and to the rest of the album more, I opened my mind up to what she was really trying to say. Yeah, sure, she's kind of saying life is too short, so go make love and share your love with everyone, but it's not as bad as it sounds when written out like that. And she's surely not saying "go spread your diseases around and don't use condoms or BC" or anything. She's simply trying to tell us, as you and I both agreed on, "Life is too short. Enjoy your youth while you can, to its fullest, both mentally and physically". |

Quick question, can anyone tell me if this is a true story for him? If not, it's still really painful to hear and imagine, but if it is...then wow, that's even more painful. I know my brother can relate to this part: "i can't for the life of me remember when you changed your words from i love you to i don't know." This song is by far one of the most beautiful songs they have done thus far. Come Clarity (the song) was pretty soft as well, on their last album, but this is the slowest/softest one now. Anders' screams are really awesome, but his voice is something really amazing. I'm glad they put this song out - not afraid of all the "I'm a die-hard fan of In Flames and now they've gone so soft on me!" people hating on it. I just wish I understood it more. We still don't know what his two 'sides' are he's talking about. |

Yes, you're right. These lyrics are from "The Other Side Of The Crash", but they are switched around. This is because this is basically the very first demo of "The Other Side Of The Crash". This song is what turned into "The other Side of The Crash". That's why the lyrics are very similar, but a little different in certain parts, and a lot different in some. |

I'm not sure what has happened here, (if it was worth the pain that it's caused us), but somebody did something, and wondering if it was worth it because pain was the result. Personally, I don't really know how to put it into words, but I'm thinking maybe they had a hint (or maybe even knew for sure?) that one of them was going to be diagnosed with a disease (such as cancer?) and might not make it through, but they started up a relationship together anyway. Probably way off, but whatever. "Both our lives - subtract one life To know why it was you deserved this" They have a life together, but one is about to die, hence - subrtact one life. Why is it she deserves this (death)? "In my memory I wrote you down in ink I never wanted to erase your story Even with the tragedy it brings" He tries hard to "write her down" in his memory so that he will never forget her. Think "permanent" (notice he says ink). He never wanted to erase her "story" (her story of life/her life/etc), even though it's such a tragedy now. (she's dying) "The fluid in your lungs That tells you you're losing, stop breathing The medicine that comes will fix you Will help you but takes you from conscious to sleep Place my hands to face and weep" We get a description of her dying in the hospital bed. The medicine that's on its way will help with the pain she's having, but will cause her to fall asleep. He puts his hands to his face and cries. "Something beautiful Something torn from my hands I'm not ready for you to die" Description of her - she's the "something beautiful" which is being torn from his hands. "(I can't leave here like this, get away from her) (that is not all that she was. I don't want to say goodbye yet)" Pretty straight-forward. He can't leave here like this, he can't get away from her. She was obviously very meaningful to him (she was more than that. that is not all that she was.), he doesn't want to say goodbye yet. "This day will end with a life complete My closest friend here in front of me" He's telling us she DOES die. (This day will end with a life complete) Her life is complete now, it's over - done with. His closest friend in front of him. "You wanted to know if If it was worth the pain that it has caused us. Both our lives - subtract one life To know why it was you deserved this" So, was it worth beginning the relationship knowing there was a chance of this happening? (or, if I'm wrong on that, was it worth whatever had happened in the past.) Was it worth all this pain. And, again, why did she deserve this? That's my take. |
