| HammerFall – Crimson Thunder Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think "crimson thunder" is your pulsing blood, cause in another song they refer to crimson thunder running through the veins. "follow the signs of the crimson thunder" is probably another way of saying "follow your heart" or something like that. | |

this song absolutely rules, as do C.O.B. as for the meaning, it sounds like its about his own self loathing. well the chorus, anyway. he's referring to an enemy that he wants to eradicate, and he sees him through a mirrir, i.e. the enemy is himself. he's so pissed off he punches the mirror ("throw a punch, shards bleed on the floor"). the glass cuts into him, but he doesnt care ("shards bleed on the floor, tearing me apart but i dont care anymore"), and he's wondering if he should regret his own self harm, or if he hasn't done enough of it yet ("should i regret or ask myself 'are you dead yet?' ") |

| i agree with my_gf that some chick got caught cheating on her guy. it's pretty suggestivehere, saying she was on her knees in his appartment! after that though i think he probably kicked the other guy's ass ("fists start to fly - say goodbye"). he wishes he could forget what she'd done to him, but he can't. | |

ok i think everyone here has missed something. i could be wildly wrong but here's what i get out of it... "with bloodshot eyes i watch you sleeping" - he's not talking about sleep here... she's dead (silverstien use sleep as a metaphor for death in "smile in your sleep"). "the warmth i feel beside me slowly fading" kind of reinforces that, as her body warmth fades away. "the moment's died, i hear no screaming" also makes me think that he's the one that killed her, and now the screaming's stopped. he feels guilt for it ("her concious calls the guilty to come home"), and he know's that he's walking the path of life in the wrong direction ("the path i walk is in the wrong direction") "would she hold me if she knew my shame?" - i think he might have killed her to be with someone else, and now he's wondering if she'd still hold him/lovehim if she knew his shame (i.e. what he'd done) that interpretation could be way off, but the band name makes me think they'd sing about that sort of thing let me know what you think |

whoa, this has some pretty cryptic stuff in it, but i reckon i know what some of it is on about... as much as i hate to say it, this song is at least partly about the "conspiracy" behind the da vinci code, the version of history for paranoid conspiracy theorist type - people. the Hanged Man is Jesus, who is smiling (in this warped version of history) because in this version he planned to stage the Crucifixion. then the line "the seed is sown in the holy place" refers to the alleged child of Jesus and mary magdalene (aka the Rose - mentioned 2 lines before that one). i think the book "holy blood, holy grail" (which was the main inspiration for the da vinci code) came out when iron maiden were getting big, so if they read it then it might have inspired them to put something like this in their songs or that interpretation could be way off, but i was partway though reading the da vinci code when i first heard this, and that line "and the seed is swon in the holy place" just seemed like it had to mean that, but i dunno really. Otm had some good thoughts on it. hope someone can figure it out! |

this song is so awesome... the lyrics have some very powerful images, and the instrumental section in the middle is a masterpiece. as for the meaning, i reckon its mainly about someone who has commited a pretty serious sin, and he has to be cleansed of it in some way, some sort of test of faith. it's about his doubts and fears on the way. in the end, he fails the test "lost the love of heaven above, chose the lust of the earth below" also i agree with Nibber about it relating to the rapture and associated events also, there's a bit a reference to "the rose", which is what paranoid conspiracy theorist - type da vinci code fans call mary magdalene. only a minor theme here but theres a lot of it in maiden's "revelations" |

ok, theres about 15 pages of meanings here so i didnt read all of them, only about the first 2 pages, so someone may already have said this, but here's my interpretation: the song's about someone who killed someone else, then hated himself for it so much that he killed himself. the bit "i have sinned by just making my mind up and taking your breath away" has got to mean that he killed someone, and "kneel down and clear the stone of leaves" could be about visiting their grave, or something. the bit "i felt the hate rise up in me" is referring to his own self-hate. that bit "the light is brighter this time" is probably cause most suicides are repeated attempts - so he's tried before and not died. he'd probably gone unconcious in the last attempt, so he does'nt know if its a dream or a memory. basically, the whole thing is his thaughts and memories when he's lying in a bath bleeding from his slit wrists. |
