| Something Corporate – The Runaway Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I definitely see the stalkerish angle, which is unsettling because I've said some of these things to my ex. Thing is though, she agreed with me. I think it can easily be seen as being about an abusive relationship, where the guy is really controlling. But I can also see it being about two people who've grown very close. Sometimes they name a fear the other has, but has never been able to pin down. Maybe the two were friends before they started going out, and the guy saw her run from relationships when it got hard and isn't going to let her run from this one just because it's not as easy as she had hoped. But now he's panicking and saying these things because he's desperately trying to convey just how much she means to him, but using language that is needy, even controlling, because he can't help himself. | |

"I'll be the platform shoes And undo what heredity's done to you You won't have to strain to look into my eyes" My girlfriend is 8 inches shorter than I am, so these lyrics always kind of jumped out at me. But the rest of the song is just perfect, too. I've been working on an acoustic translation of it and I'm going to play it for her when I get back home from college. Don't ever let anyone tell you long distance can't work. It can. You just have to work a little bit harder. Okay, end rant. |

| The song is dedicated to someone named ACC, 1971-1993. But I like the child angle. It really fits with the innocence of the lyrics. | |

No, he didn't. He said that was not his intention, but that it could be seen that way. VH has always encouraged fans to find their own interpretations of their songs. And it's Scannell. |

Vh is definitely not a Christian band. They've even said they aren't on multiple occasions. That being said, their songs are frequently vague enough that multiple interpretations are possible, and some of their songs can be seen as religious. Probably weren't written as such, but VH encourages fans to find their own meaning in a song, which might not match theirs. This song seems to be communicating a sense of confusion, of not knowing where to go or what's coming next. It might be in a relationship, or in life in general. |
