how is it possible there are no comments for this song yet?
Andrew said this was a concept album about the end of the world. seems to fit if you look at the songs as a whole. |

perch is a verb
as in, "the gull was perched on the rock"
so it does make sense. i don't think fish have anything to do with it. the "perch" is the rock that the gull is resting on. |

uhm, yes, G3ebbos8, this IS a Bright Eyes cover, Meredith said so herself on her (older) website.
unless it was a misprint or mistake on her part. |

in any relationship, besides all the love and joy and positive aspects, there runs the risk that someday it will end and the beauty will be lost in the destruction.
love is the ultimate risk, you give your heart to the one you love on a silver platter and hope for the best. |

| Gregory and the Hawk – Fin Song 8 Lyrics

inspiration. and the relationship between a music artist and their fans. the speaker seems to be talking about how she's been inspired
"It's been all of my wishes
Devised a dream and then lived it
and I remember when I first listened to your records"
she's following the footsteps to her own career in music, but it's an unsure path
"it's clouded, what we know, we can only hope" |

i could be wrong, but i hear the first line as
" think i'm bound to break it " as in, break the Bad Habit? it's hard to say though, they both fit.
also " and the heart WANTS us to fall in love" not "once says"
anyway, love this song. meredith owns. |

i think Pink Bullets is a sort of metaphor for the pain of love...pink symbolizing love, and the bullets part being the death of love, and following pain. this is such a gorgeous song, can anyone link me the video? |

| Radiohead – 2 + 2 = 5 (The Lukewarm) Lyrics

2+2=5 is, to me, yet another reference to the amazing book 1984 by Mr. Orwell. if you haven't read it, get up, turn of the computer, go to the library/bookstore and pick it up and read it. right now. drop everything. |

ok, you people who are not understanding the reference to 1984....are you KIDDING?!?!?! and no, i highly doubt that this song is the result of drunken ramblings , m.m .... I think Aeidein was exactly right in his description of this songs meaning. it is very distrubing and creepy, very sad, tragic and also a warning. our strive for perfection shall eventually leave us to be emotionless, mindless robots of sorts, as the computer voice implies..."a pig, in a cage, on antibiotics"
this song reminds me so much of 1984 it's ridiculous. it poses the question "is there such a thing as human nature?" and so much more. one of my all-time favorite Radiohead songs, ever. |

just a note... i think the line goes "and as the *water* rises / perch shrinks in size / and i'll take off" seeing as she says she's the gull, and he's the rock, and the water rising would cause the rock to shrink in size and she'd have to fly off.
i love that metaphor . very clever |

Bravo Charlie--isn't that a reference to Charlie Brown?? (not entirely sure, but it's what i think of) ...he was always kinda depressed and whatnot, and if anything, this song is depressing lol. but it's also very touching and beautiful, like all of their songs. i also think that ode2jeremy has a good point about it. |

i was in a relationship like this recently. "how weak is that / wish i was worth it, to you" the speaker is in a relationship in which she loves him, but she knows he doesn't reciprocate that love, it seems as if he's just using her for sex. ("i'll undress if you need it, but please don't need it") she knows that he won't be there for her in bad times ("review my wishes, for fair weather...") but still she stays with him anyway and accepts it. very sad. |

first of all, i just have to say how much i adore GATH.
ages ago, when i ordered their original EP, i came across somewhere on their site, where Meredith explained that this song is about leaving home. i see it as from a parent's point of view, their child is leaving home and they love them so much, it's breaking their heart, but of course they have to let them go.
"i live to make you free" --parents raise their children so that they can become independent someday
"but you can skyrocket away from me
and never come back if you find another galaxy
far from here with more room to fly
just leave me your stardust to remember you by" --basically saying --"you're free to leave, and if you find another place to call home, leave me something to remember you by...don't forget me"
this song made me fall in love with this band. the end. |

i agree with RustyJ here. and i also think it has to do with the overall melancholy of realizing how cliche the life process is. growing up and going "from our huggies to armani / and it all seems so rehearsed" life is pretty much boring and predictable, it's his birthday, it's a new year, but that's just not enough to make him happy. |

after reading what everyone else has to say (i originally thought it was about sex) i really think it could go either way. another stab at the record industry and music, or just plain sex/masturbation.
i have to say though, "come pollinate me" is the most original come-on i've ever heard ;) |

basically everything you want to say to everyone in high school. this song is hilarious and a lot of fun.
but trust me, the irony doesn't escape me. in mocking these people he's become the hypocrit himself...and i like whoever pointed out that he uses very pretentious words in this song in particular.... "self-aggrandizing" much ?? ;) |

"and if you want roses
you can go buy a bouquet
if that just won't cut it

i love this song because it doesn't overplay such cliche love song lyrics...he's pretty much saying, "okay i'm an asshole sometimes, but this is who i am, and i care about you" |
