| Boris – Farewell Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| does anyone know the japanese lyrics to this song, or any boris song? i can't find them anywhere on the internet, anyone who speaks japanese and can write down what they hear in the recordings should do that and post them here | |
| Soundgarden – Head Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is seriously underrated, i think it's the best song on superunknown next to mailman and let me drown, and it's possibly one of my favorite songs of all time. i love the sad ambiguity of not only the lyrics but the melody and harmonies between the instruments. i'm going to agree with che45 and lepra messias on this, but i also think that it's about just generally being pushed down and forced to commit or submit to something oppressive. it's a very open song. | |
| The White Stripes – Death Letter Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| has anyone seen the blackpool lights live version of this? fucking incredible! i have the whole concert on dvd and i get goosebumps everytime i watch that song. i dont mean to be a pretentious hardcore idiot, but i like the live version WAY better than the recording, because it's longer and heavier and louder. not to say the recording is bad, i still love it. | |
| Bright Eyes – An Interview with Conor Oberst Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
man.... if conor saw all this just for a joke interview he did like 4 years ago... i think he'd be laughing his ass off. i always was convinced it was fake, and then this morning i listened to it a little closer for the first time in a while and i noticed the background voices, and i couldn't stop smiling. he's almost violently explaining how the entire bright eyes persona is, for lack of better word, fabricated, although i think that makes it seem like he's a phony. He's quite the opposite: conor has created probably the most complex and emotionally indepth musician/character, and the best part is, he makes it all up. it isnt him, he's a completely different person, and he openly tells the listeners this (although rather subtly). conor is such a genius, he created this bright eyes story that is elaborated and built upon with each new album, and i'm surprised more people havent noticed it yet. the whole padraic thing, the omnipresent arienette, the various and repeated references to actual "bright eyes" themselves (probably belonging to the arienette character, i think, but conor probably wants his more dedicated fans to create their own stories). from The Calendar Hung Itself...: "and i kissed a girl with a broken jaw, that her father gave to her/ she had eyes bright enough to burn me there, they reminded me of yours" i think that whole song is directed at arienette, who could be the character's high school sweetheart who dumped him soon after high school ended. another reference to "bright eyes", from the song june on the west coast on the album Letting off the Happiness: "...and i thought about my true love, the one i really need/with eyes that burn so bright they make me pure" arienette is his true love, i think, and not conor's, but the character's. any way, i don't know if anyone will actually read all that, it's kind of tedious, but whatever i wanted to write what i thought about this. once again, as all you people have said, conor is a genius, he's probably the best storyteller in modern pop culture at this time, i think. |

| Nirvana – Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| nirvana was competing with alice in chains, they were both big grunge bands of the time and were (theoretically) similar. i dont know if nirvana actually liked alice in chains, or vice versa, but you dont have to hate your competitors, so i wouldn't be surprised if they did like each other's music. | |
| Nirvana – Scentless Apprentice Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i read somewhere that the lyric's for the song are made up of verses that each band member wrote...i dunno if this goes against the "based on a novel" thing, but it could still be about the novel, they could all have read the book or at least known about it. i dont know, maybe what i read was wrong. |

i think people often take kurt's lyrics way too seriously. think about this one simply: what really blows when you're a kid in school. no recess, right? a lot of kurts songs are about little kids and simplistic problems, for example, the song sliver. and what would be worse than being in high school, AGAIN? mr. belding? AGAIN?? |

im glad to see some other people appreciate this song as much as i do. i dont even really know why it's so good to me, everytime it gets into the heavy part with that amazing guitar part screaming, i get major chills. ive been trying to find a good guitar tab for this song for so long, and i still haven't. i can't figure out the melodic part, but the heavy part is kind of easy to understand. anyone have/know of any good tabs? are you strong enough? pitiful boy. love that |

i listened to the song and followed along with the lyrics posted above, and i didn't notice that many mistakes. the only i could find were that the chorus (shakespeare, sang air on air...) and the end verse (to our end, no imagery) weren't indicated at places where they were repeated (which many musicians often leave out when transcribing their lyrics), and the words get a bit fumbled towards the end, like what was written could be what he was singing, but since his tortured screaming voice is so hard to understand, we can only guess. i find that common in sdre songs, the lyrics vary with every version of the song, sometimes there aren't even set lyrics for them, jeremy just sings whatever he wants (i.e.: the blankets were the stairs, song about an angel). To the meaning of this song, i honestly really dont know. i think the dove mentioned in the beginning could be like peace, and peace left him very quickly as if it weren't there at all and now he's bleeding, or just suffering. for the part about shakespeare, i guess he could be saying that shakespeare wrote and sung his woes, so he will try that as well, or something like that, i dunno. i dont really want to take a stab at the next 2 verses, but i think the end part is him screaming to the "other" person in the song, the one whom he relates to whom he wants to join in there misery, which is why he screams to wait at the end for him so they can both help each other. i think that most of jeremy's lyrics have the underlying theme that words are inadequate to explain emotions, which is why his lyrics often dont even make real sentences, they're just words that he sings to try to express his mind. awesome song, though, one of my favorites by them next to iscarabaid and the blankets were the stairs. |

| Bauhaus – In The Flat Field Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| bauhaus lyrics aren't all that complicated, i think they usually mean what they sound like they mean. that is, they usually dont use metaphors, they are simply just singing about creepy things that dont necessarily have anything to do with the band's member's own lives, they just like creepy things. | |
| Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi's Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i saw bauhaus live with nine inch nails last weekend, truly an amazing concert on both the band's behalf. when bauhaus ended with this song, he put on a huge vampire cloak and ran around in circles while a really creepy person with a huge leather and chains cloak and big black hair walked on stage and just stood there for the entirety of the song. the guitarist for bauhaus is probably one of the most animated guitarists ive seen live, right up next to jonny greenwood from radiohead and the guitarist from nine inch nails, i forget his name (not trent, the other one with longer hair). anyway, awesome concert, definitely if any of you have the chance, go see them live. | |
| Elliott Smith – Pictures of Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i noticed that a lot of elliott smith songs are like words directed to a "you", which i think himself. it's like all of his songs are like angry letters to himself about different situations that have happened to him, and things he observed and thought about. that's what makes elliott's stuff so real, because they're simply just pieces of his life put on paper to explain an event or situation that has happened to him. | |
