| Robyn – Dancing On My Own Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| To me, it's almost a responce to "call your girlfriend". This is the girlfriend that's been left for another girl. | |
| Boys Like Girls – Dance Hall Drug Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about extacy and what comes with it. The "dance hall drug" is extacy. "So why don't you wait 'til you're sedated". Sedated because she took the drug. |

| The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Why does it HAVE to be about Heroin. You do realize you could inject a multitude of other drugs? They make no direct reference to heroin. While I understand the drug interpretation, I think it could just as easily be about self harm. "She never mentions the word addiction In certain company Yes, she'll tell you she's an orphan After you meet her family " I think that her family knows she cuts. She's embarrassed by them so she tells people that. It's a pretty normal teenage thing to feel. I think they know about her cutting and ignore it, or don't believe it's a real problem. Or they don't want to have a "bad" reputation so they tell her to keep it quiet. "She paints her eyes as black as night now She pulls those shades down tight She gives a smile when the pain comes The pain gonna' make everything alright " Ok so personally, I do cut and I know that when you get that relief of pain (just like any other addiction) you feel happy and are kind of number to the pain. I think she pulls the shades so her neighbours can't see and to block everything out. "Says she talks to angels They call her out by her name Oh yeah, she talks to angels Says they call her out by her name " Perhaps she's schizophrenic? Or had another severe personality disorder. Hence the cutting. "She keeps a lock of hair in her pocket She wears a cross around her neck Yes the hair is from a little boy And the cross from someone she has not met Not yet " The lock of hair could be of someone who died. A child of hers she might have lost? A cousin, a friend? Which may have triggered the personality disorder. Which would trigger cutting. She wears the cross because she hears the angels.. pretty obvious. "She don't know no lovers None that I've ever seen And to her that means nothing But to me it means, means everything" Lovers, or perhaps just love? Maybe she's never felt love and she denies that she cares. But the narrator does. I know a lot of this is probably wrong. But I'm breaking it down to show you that it can be easily interpreted in different ways. Unless you have a statement from the band saying exactly what the song means. Your guess is as good as anyone else's and you shouldn't berate them for interpreting a piece of art differently then you. That's what art is for after all. |

| Sara Bareilles – Morningside Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about sex. "i try to forget what you do to me but then you do it over again i could rage like a fire and you'd bring rain til you get to me on my morningside" It's probably a friends with benefits type of situation, that's she's gotten hurt in before. But he's good, and she gets tempted every time because hey have a lot of chemistry. "morningside" is the next morning guilt she feels, |

| Sara Bareilles – Fairytale Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about independence. She's saying as girls we're taught these stories of these princess' sitting around waiting for a man to come save them. But she wants to save herself, because she can. "once upon a time in a faraway kingdom man made up a story said that i should believe him go and tell your white knight that he's handsome in hindsight but i don't want the next best thing so i sing and hold my head down and i break these walls round me can't take no more of your fairytale love" |

| Pink – Long Way To Happy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's obviously about rape. I think the 6 weeks is how long it took her to tell someone about what happened to her. Roll away bed, might be the place where she was raped since she says "Left my childhood behind In a roll away bed". Her innocence is on the bed because that's where she was raped. | |
| Regina Spektor – Buildings Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
She's an alocholic. And he inables her. I think the "They build buildings so tall these days" is his worry about her killing herself. Alcholics aren't exactly happy with life and I think he worries about her jumping off a building to just end her addiction and depression. I think that these lines are his worries:He was a husband who drove his wife home drunk from the parties He was a husband who drove his wife home And in the car he would lean her head gently against the side door window And in the bathroom he would hold her hair back and hope, saying; Oh they build buildings And then she says it to herself: And in the morning she'd wake up and crouch recollections all day But she would always always wake up the next morning He'd take one look at her a say "Oh, oh it's okay" And her conscience would issue yet another last warning, saying; Oh they build buildings Warning herself against jumping. Because there would be no chance of survival. |

| Sara Bareilles – Between the Lines Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Stuckatsea is right. It's about him cheating on her. "Until now, he told me her name It sounded familiar in a way I could have sworn I'd heard him Say it ten thousand times If only I had been listening" |

| Sara Bareilles – Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I have never in my life teard up on the first listen to a song. This was the first to make me do that. Amazing, just amazing. | |
| Acceptance – Breathless Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's about an on again off again reltionship. "She'll have to cut it away To save her life And she knows, see she knows It's like a fatal disease, you'll hear her cry ohh" In this part she's putting her foot down. She's finally cutting him off, cutting of contact everything. But then... "Take this, make it something beautiful again Make this, make this happen cause you're beautiful to them Got you anyway I'm gonna say that I've been takin over Come, let's go again Tell me when And I'll be taking over" She takes him back. She's being "taken over" by her feelings and the reltationship in general. "And you know that I'll never (I will do it again) Do it again (I'll take it away from you) And tell you I love you (I'll take it again) (I'll take it away from you) Say it again, again" The percpective of the song is tha guy who's messing with her head. He tells her he loves her, she takes him back. Then he takes it back and treats her like crap. |

| Boys Like Girls – Five Minutes To Midnight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's not about love, its about hooking up. Brown eyes and lungs are filled up with smoke Fast lives are stuck in the undertoe But you know the places I wanna go 'Cause oh oh oh, I've got a sickness You've got the cure You've got the spunk I've been lookin' for And I've got a plan we walk out the door We walk out the door-, of the party or bar theyère at, back to his place. To have sex. You know the places I want to go-self explanatory Then he talks about getting feelings after the hook up, because you usually do despite yourself. We could pack up And leave all our things behind No fact, or fiction, or storyline 'Cause I need you more than just for tonight But the connection they had only lasts so long, just like in Cinderella, he goes back to his real life. And when the clock strikes twelve Will you find another party Go and kiss and tell |

| Paramore – Crushcrushcrush Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I basically agree with everyone, but I think it's more that the guy doesn't want a commitment. He wants to play games with her first. Like make her jump through hoops type thing. And she's basically saying she's game, because she likes him so much. Even though she knows she shouldn't. " If you wanna play it like a game Well, come on, come on, let's play Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending Than have to forget you for one whole minute" Also I think the chorus is about him lieing to her, and his friends "the spys" about what they are. Maybe he told her he really did want to commit, where he is telling his friends she's just a hook up for a fling. "Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone Just the one, two of us who's counting on That never happens I guess I'm dreaming again Let's be more than this" |

| Paramore – Hallelujah Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It kind of sounds like it's about the band to be honest. I get the relationship reference you all are getting but if you look at it in the perspective that this is their second album, they are now established and they have time to create the CD and make it something.. more. "and we've got time on our hands and we've got, got nothing but time on our hands" In reference to finally being established. And wanted to make the bands success last. |

| Imogen Heap – Speeding Cars Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's about closer. "it's ok by me it was a long time ago" He did what he did and cheated on her, but she has no more hard feelings. "sleeping pills know, sleeping dogs lie never far enough away glistening in the cold sweat of guilt" I don't think she is getting back together with him. But part of her will always be there for him because she loved him. "now now, darling don't kill yourself none of us were angels and you know I love you, yeah" |

| The Spill Canvas – Drunken Ballerina Waltz Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
blamelove, it's funny you mention bright eyes. I saw The Spill Canvas in concert and Nick said something along the lines of "Sorry we can't play the same stuff all the time. If you want that go listen to some bright eyes" Not his exact words. But something along those lines This song is amazing. I think it'd about a girl who is playing him. She has another guy on the side. The person doesn't want to be involved in it. But it's too late because he is emotionally involved with her "What makes you think that I'd enjoy this triangle? I would rather be left alone. What makes you think that I'd enjoy playing your games? I would rather you stay at home." |
|
| The Spill Canvas – Bound To Happen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think the title is interesting to. "Bound to happen" it really speaks on teenage relationships, and how they are bound to break up. It's an amazing break-up song. He sounds a bit bitter, but a lot like he is just really sad. Amazing | |
| October Fall – If We're All Alone, Aren't We In This Together? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| oops that supposed to say sounds a lot like the feelings.... | |
| October Fall – If We're All Alone, Aren't We In This Together? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I know this probably isn't it.. but it wounds a lot like the feelings you would get when you graduate. "And there's no next year for me here" and that they have to grow up now.. so this is the last time there all going to get high together "Take my innocence away" "Do you think we'll stay this high?" Just a thought though | |
| October Fall – Tongue Tied Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I basically agree with everyone here, but i think it's about the end of a relationship. They both need to let go, but he just wants one more night with her. "Give me an ending Then we'll stop pretending If we stop pretending We know where we're heading Cause I said stop but I'm still spinning" He knows ending it is for the best, but he will miss her |
