I personally love this song... And in my oppinion, its seems to be about religion, mainly about Noah's Ark and the story of that. The first stanza seems like when Noah was first told to build the ark and how Noah was old and everyone just thougth he was crazy. The second stanza seems like Noah and the animals on the ark wishing it would stop rianing and that the water would go down. The chorus seems to be about how frustrating and hard it was for Noah and the animals being stuck on the ark for so long. The foruth stanza is pretty self explaintory...unless you're a fish or a swimming animal, you'll need to be on the arc or you'll drown. Also about Noah's labour of buliding that arc and how it'll be worth it in the end. The sixth stanza is about how depressing the long rain was and how it washed and killed all the evil and bad from the earth and how only the good remain on the arc. That's my interpretation of it. I might be wrong or right. But yah. I was always interested in the story of Noah's arc and when i first heard this song I made an immeadiate connection. |

| Now, don't mob me or anything, but in my opinion, this song is one of LC's worst. I'm not impressed with 'Pretty New Things'. I've heard much better from them...Like most songs from 'On To The Next One' and back. PNT has a few good songs...Pretty New Things, Don't Touch Me, Stop Sign, and maybe a few other that I can't think of off the top of my head...I don't really like what they did to The Answer either...that song was COMPLETELY different from when I heard it when the came to my school...I think they're doing newer stuff like the songs on PNT because they're getting more and more known...i mean they just finished a tour and they're going on another in a few days...I dunno...oh well... | |

I love this ong...it's like LC's music get's better and better with every new album. To me, this song just you always given false hope when you young and told that you can do anything, and you end up do doing anything "We're moments from bliss or catastrophe" Then you just ruin youerself or the people around you are ruining themselves, "Broken bottles, broken homes" But then you find youself and make it along, "This is the sound of two feet /Learning to stand on their own" But just not as good as possible, "But I don't trust my eyes or my heart anymore" "I've broken every promise I've made to myself" That's just what I think...proabably wrong but...oh well. If anyone could get me the correct lyrics, I'd be very greatful. As for the question marks, I have no clue what Tj is singing there. I listened to the album verson, and I couldn't understand him, so I decided to listen to the live acoustic verson, and it was even less understandable...so yeah This song, I have no clue what it's about, but I think it's the same as No Hard Feelings (except for the part that says "her" and "she". Dunno what those are about). And if I'm not mistaken, MY Old Self and No Hard feelings are both on the album Unremarkable. And if you've ever heard the album version, I TOTALLY recomend listening to an acoustic version, the live acoustic is remarkable. |

Actually I think this song is about how he wants to get away from what he does and he just needs/wants a friend to pour his heart out to.
