There are a few discourse markers in that song that suggest to me refusing to tackle the problem at hand, ignoring it, hoping it'll sort itself out "maybe just a ghost you say and forget about it" and "closing my eyes tight" and also half heartedly attempting to tackle the problem to appease someone close to you, knowing full well that your attempt will fail "i tried to kill the dead ghost- shoot! but i got a miss shot" trying to kill a dead a ghost? see where i'm getting? |

Its bands like the locust that make posting here worthwhile, i feel like such an artsy fartsy type discussing their lyrics, haha, but anyway, i bet the Mr W he's talking about is GW bush, maybe? it seems likely, he's pissing many artists off around the globe, i love the lyric " Would the owner of an ounce of dignity please contact the mall security?" maybe its a dig at the slipping standards of society, many of the scummy ones who inhabit manchester, you'd have to be low on dignity to dress so, revealingly. haha jesus christ, listen to me, i'm only 15 years old, haha, but i swear it does disgust me some of the fashion choices of today. |

Well, i am a little surprised that nobody has interpreted this song as in my opinion it is the most easy to interpret song they have wrote, maybe people were going to but they decided not to insult peoples intelligence, but i, however, am a prick so here goes: to me this is about somebodies friend (possibly Eddie BG Edders (vocalist) friend) dying, and realizing after the funeral that people have their priorities out of prospective, that they spend too much time worrying about the things that bog you down, instead of living their lives as can be seen in "the plastic people worry away their lives with". it also urges people not to think about material possessions to much "life isn't diamonds, etc" and urges people to live their lives instead of prostituting it to the stuff that doesn't matter. thats how i think of it, and i remember these lyrics whenever i feel i have my priorities out of place, or i'm worrying too much, stick this amazing song on and scream my heart out to the lyrics. |
