The Horrors – Count In Fives Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is about Faris, as a kid, having a bit of a learning disability and becoming frustrated when he was asked to count in anything but multiples of five. So basically to me it's just about being different and feeling angry.

Oh, hoismith, I'm pretty sure you meant that comment for DATC cos it's the one that is a development of Full Moon?

Babyshambles – Love You But You're Green Lyrics 18 years ago
I reckon this could be based a bit on the novel Brighton Rock. At one point the main character shouts at his girlfriend that she is 'green', i.e. unexperienced and naive. Not sure how this relates to the song but it is probably the basis for it?

Babyshambles – A'Rebours Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it almost certain that Pete is familiar with the phrase through the novel I mentioned due to the fact that he has mentioned writers of the decadence period as some of his favourite in interviews (e.g. Baudelaire) and also entitled one of his own diaries A'rebours.

I just thought it was interesting that the a'rebours song on Down In Albion is a mixture of a couple of other songs Pete had done in previous sessions.

Did you know that the parts of the song containing the word a'rebours and the part about thrilling and killing used to be two completely different tunes?

Babyshambles – A'Rebours Lyrics 18 years ago
A'rebours is a book by a french bloke called Huysmans. It's about a wee chap who buys a house and decorates it dead nice. What does this have to do with the song? Not much, as in the original 'curtain call' the word used is magraw instead of a'rebours. I reckon pete's used it here to look clever.
