until i actually looked up the lyrics, i thought the end lines were "you'll be the bullet for me" which i thought resembled a hurtful relationship and ties in with the rest of the song and talks about the guy trying to get away from it all, possibly by committing suicide, maybe not. but i guess that doesn't work anymore. |

actually, i haven't heard the studio version from desire, but i must say that dylan's live version with the rolling thunder revue sounds much better, lots of emotion in the vocals and i like the bassist's backup singing. still a great stripes tune though. |
