| Joan of Arc – Please Don't Mistake My Arrogance for Shyness Lyrics | 14 years ago |

awesome song but a few mistakes -- I'm getting this from the lyric sheet in "The Intelligent Design of" and I'm following its line breaks and punctuation. So here's to all the people with diseases. And here's to all our mistaken fates. What we thought was quiet health was just a hushed lethal belief. So how has letting yourself go been going? I see you're still making too many new friends to keep. But if my drunken logic won't protest My drunken wisdowm just might bet my memories All the kids will still all look the same. |

when he's singing about the "parliament of owls" and "a city of canals" i can only think of London and didn't he have a connection to it or live there or something? so the line "floating in the dams" sounds like "floating in the Thames" -- as in the river cutting through England which is pronounced similarly -- this makes sense to me and paints a prettier image anyway fuck Them for not printing lyrics |

| i thought to myself, 'fucking mohammed, what're the lyrics to this morbid song?' his faux-upbeat melody comes off as rancor - obvious after reading this and listening again and again andaingindnd - superb, tim never lets me down, EVER | |

i think he's describing an LSD trip. it does induce paranoia at times and who hasn't experienced synesthesia on a sufficient load of acid? i remember the first time i did LSD my face was glued to the front window for an immeasurable amount of time. i thought "they" were coming for me! the cars acted like snakes. "they got my house surrounded i'm the only one i trust." he also describes his vision, "opera glasses view," "screams .. orange," "footsteps silver." especially if one closes their eyes and listens to the sounds, a magnificently psychedelic experience. a few friends and i (two sober, two on LSD) listened to Stravinsky on shuffle on our way up to Frisco. on LSD, it requires courage. it was very fun. and in this song, it seems like he initially was terrified and saw him getting old "youth is taken from me," and as the trip settled he relaxed and "all the paths combine." an interesting take on it, if indeed that is it. not (to me) spectacular poetry or eloquent, and the song is interesting. it tries to capture the mood (ostensibly). anyway, now self-promotion: check out vaipan.com or myspace.com/vaipanfilms |

i met dave at bottom of the hill, these guys were amazing. the lyrics are pretty, and sad, and definately mirror a bunch of shit i feel that i'm going through. for me, this song is about an apathetic girl that he cares for deeply, and she doesn't show an ounce back. i can definately empathize. she just rolls her eyes, and sighs at his attempts to win her over. but she'll never be won. these lyrics are remarkably real to me. the last verse is my favorite. |
