| Bauhaus – Bela Lugosi's Dead Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I sort of saw this as being a tribute to the horror films of the 1930s. Dracula came out in '31, so it fits in here with Frankenstein and the Wolf-Man and other monster movies. Nowadays, scary movies are slasher flicks and torture porn, and vampires are a damn love interest! So, Bauhaus is not only mourning Bela Lugosi; they're also mourning the classic monster movies. | |
| The Verve Pipe – The Freshmen Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Here's how I've always interpreted the song in my head: The singer is a college freshman, and a friend of this guy and girl who are dating. The couple eventually breaks up, shattering the girl's dreams of marrying ("stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice" could lead to this, also baby's breath could mean the girl was too young to die). The ex-boyfriend goes away on spring break. The singer tries to console the girl, but it doesn't work ("she a punk who rarely ever took advice"). She overdoses on Valium and dies. Now, the ex-boyfriend feels guilty that he broke the girl's heart, and the singer feels guilty because he couldn't "save" her. They try to blame her for falling in love too young. The singer and the ex-boyfriend are still friends, but it's awkward because of the girl's death. That's just my take on it. |

| Tori Amos – Spark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| rubberduckie, I think the "6:58 are you sure where my spark is" is a reference to phrases like, "it's 10:00, do you know where your children are?" That makes it even harder for Tori because her child isn't where it's supposed to be, in her womb. | |
