When I listened to All Apologies I simply took it for a suicide note, as this was after Kurt's death and I knew this was his last album. It seemed like he was apologizing to everyone of what a bad role model he was, but he didn't hint anything at death (of himself). |

I never really understood the song nor cared to find out until now, I really love this song and often leave it on by itself to play for hours while I play computer games. In my opinion, Candlebox was a great band and its ashame they didn't get as far as Metallica and other bands that did so damn well. |

I always thought this was referring to the crusades & wars that take place around the holy land.. even the title suggested that. Then when he says his wife and child are killed, he doesn't give the people a chance and simply wants revenge which is what starts a lot of wars... the killing of civilians. I love this song though, its great and well played. |

I just think this song is about what is said before, the novel "For Whom The Bell Tolls". And in fact, "Crack of dawn, all is goane, except the will to be" sounds more like it is referring to how the airstrike decimated the hill. Either way I love this song. |

I always wondered where this song came from, I never got to go to a Metallica concert and I have the S&M album. I couldn't recognize the name from any of the albums and then I looked at the composer and I was like "wtf". This clarifies where it comes from though, I am DEEPLY SADDENNED that I never got to attend a Metallica concert. I would have never questioned whether to live or not again, the answer would be simple: Live for metallica! |

This is an excellent song but I don't see why everyone says "ITS THE BEST METALLICA SONG". I truly don't believe in the "Best" of songs because every song is different (unless a band is cheap and duplicates its songs lol). I mean, comparing Of Wolf And Man and Master Of Puppets, I would chose Wolf because I prefer its sounds and shortness to Puppets length. Great song though and superb album. |

From the start of the song I realized it was about suicide, and I"ll be honest I've been suicidal at parts of my life. I doubt I would ever actually do it, but Fade To Black surely helped in one of my depressions and I'd like to thank Metallica personally for it. This song is what makes me want to get up and turn my music on. One of the first Metallica songs I ever listened to, like Enter Sandman it will always be close to my heart! To me it is about the animal inside us that can be unleashed and the power of adrenaline! I doubt that is correct, but it makes me feel "pumped up" when I listen to it! If I was a werewolf AFTER listening to this song, you might want to drop the silver bullets and run kiddes... coyoteman-werewolf is coming at ya! Enter Sandman was the first Metallica song I ever listened to (For the older folk here, that makes me a Metallica n00b)and its my favorite song. I'll never go to bed the same without thinking about it and it would be one of the last songs I would ever stop listening to. HEh I wouldn't be surprised if some parents used this song to help their kids sleep, it makes the sandman sound not-so-scary, in my opinion. |

When I first pulled out the Ride The Lightning album from my older brother's CD collection, I thought "Oh god metallica this stuff is too hard for me" but I tried it anyway. At first I was so bewildered by the orchestra-beginning and then STUNNED by the rapid transformation into a heavier metallic beat. I was like "WHOAa" so I listened to all the songs! From that day forward to this day, Ride The Lightning is one of my favorite albums and never seems to die, all the songs are very unique and moving, especially Fight Fire With Fire in my mind because it showed me that something isn't as it appears ;D |

Personally, when I first listened to this song I didn't realize what he was really saying. I just found the words soothing and the transfer to another language just seemed like an amazing change. I now have read the lyrics and understand it, quite an emotional song and I will never forget the words A Tout le Monde! |
