| Simple Minds – Don't You (Forget About Me) Lyrics

This song wasn't written FOR simple minds, whoever was in charge of finding an artist for the Breakfast Club theme (John Hughes?) offered this to Billy Idol, who turned it down but later recorded it for some album he did in the 90s, someone else who again turned it down and then The Pretenders.
Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders passed on the oppurtunity to record it but suggested that her husband, Jim Kerr and his band (Simple Minds, obviously) might take a look at it. They then recorded it ......... |

I haven't seen A Little Night Music but i know that this is sung by Desiree, who is an aging lounge singer or performer of some kind. The man this is adressed to is one she's had a long standing affair with, but he's now married to a teenage girl and Desiree herself is now the mistress of a Duke/Count/nobleman of some kind.
I just saw Ruthie Henshall sing this on tv and thought it was incredibly poignant. |

A great song, if only because it features the word "perturbed." |

does this not make anybody else cry like a baby?
i love the mix of the bizarre verses with the chorus which shows that he's quite prepared to be trampled on in this relationship, just to feel loved/wanted. |

| Guillemots – madeup love song #43 Lyrics

i don't really know about the satire......
but i love this song for the way it seems really well, childish is probably the word. The dragons, the "i do" shows a childlike insistance and the paper round. I just think its a really sweet, urgent declaration to a first love.
whatever its meaning, its still my favourite song of this year s far |

This is actually my favourite song on the album too.
It's just so desparate (what will it take to heat this house?) at the start and then the way he seems almost distracted as he talks about the sky, followed by "i don't remember losing sight off your needs." It's like no matter what he does, it can never be made right between him and the girl. |
