You can deffinatley tell the mythology is all symbolism. Atlas and Achilles are nevr mentioned in the same story. And if you think your an expert on the trojan war just because you've watched "Troy" you're not, it's totally glammed up an inaccurate. You should read the Illiad if you want to learn about the trojan war NOT the Odyssey. The Odyssey is Odysseus' journey home from the war Achilles isn't even alive in it.
An oracle said that the Greeks wouldn't win w/out Achilles but it also prophisised Achilles would die in the trojan war. His mother Thetis didn't want him to go so she disguised him as a girl. Odysseus tricked him into going anyway. This really doesn't have anything to do with the song. See? It's a great book but I don't think it inspired this song. |

might be about fuckin OR Homer refers to Eos, the godess of dawn as "the rose-tipped fingers of dawn" the deep blue ripples could mean the blue sky. I know this has many holes in it but it's just a theory. |

I kind of think there could be another meaning to this song. Communication brakedown could be reffering to music in that era. "It's always the same,
I'm having a nervous breakdown, Drive me insane! " that could mean they are tired of music that was popular back then. This could be saying hey we're bringing something new to the table and we're gonna be around for a while. The girl could be a metaphor for music i dunno. I just kind of thought this up in a hurry and it'll probably get a bunch of insulting comments that it might deserve. |

I think this songs about being true to themselves and their fans. Phish is differnt than other mainstream bands and even non-mainstream bands. Most other non-mainstream bands say they don't want to be famous but they just use that as an excuse because they try but can't be. If Phish sold out they probably could have been huge and on the pop charts but they would rather make good music for the select few that enjoy it. Other bands are kind of like fictional characters to their fans but these guys are like real people they actualy hang out with their fans. I think this song means you have to do what you love or else life's pointless. If you're just in a job for the money you'll have to do that job your whole life and never even get the chance to enjoy it and you just keep planning for the future until you're dead. I love this song. |

kmk_natasha is right. bras monkey is a coctail that contains 1/2 oz. of rum 1/2 oz. of vodka and 4 oz. of orange juice. It was a common drink for high schoolers to drink while in school. The orange juice overpowers the smell of the alchohol. After I heard this song I asked a guy down the street about it and he told me so now every now and than I have a couple at lunch. |

I think this song could posibly be about the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche. In the story Cupid is supossed to get Psyche to fall in love with a very bad man but he accidentaly wonds himself with his own arrow, hence "What is and what should never be". He falls in love with Psyche and an oracle tells her to go t a cliff to meet her husband. When she gets there the west wind carries her away to a castle. Venus, Cupids mother didn't want them to be together but they evenyually worked it out and they lived together in immortality forever.
I don't know it's kind of a stretch. |

Zeppelin never recorded this song. It was first recorded by Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster in 1934. I'm pretty sure there is no single person who wrote this song. It's just an old American folk song. It was popularized by The Animals in 1964 and many other versions were released by various artists (none of them Zeppelin). There is evidence there may have been a real house of the rising sun in New Orleans in the 1800's but was probably just made up. What this really boils down to is Zeppelin never did a studio recording of this song. |

I haven't put much research into this and it's kind of a longshot but i think this song might be about d-day. Even though the allies attaxked the eastern shore of normandy it's still somewhat western in france. Now i don't know how much led zepp was into WWII but i thought i'd post this because it kind of just came to me in history class. Zeppelin RULES!!!!! |
