to me this song is about a girl (lisa) who has an eating disorder. he is losing her to this disorder. the "black tears" part is in reference to the mascarra she is wearing, often times people who have an issue with themselves will try to cover themselves with makeup. it's very hard to help someone who has an eating disorder if it has become severe and so as he says, "there's nothing i can do" In the first stanza when he says "You oughta know That I didn't mean to hurt you, I just wanted you to know" he has said something to her concerning how skinny she has become and she probably flipped out at him because she is really sensitive about that topic. the "tiny lies" lisa is telling is about how she doesn't have a disorder, she's fine, he needs to stop worrying about her. this is what i think, i know it's different then all of yours but this makes the most sense to me |
