"Carl is kept sedated The frontman elevated" This refers to the allegations from Pete that McGee told Carl that if he kept quiet about Peter being edged out, Barat would be the main frontman of the Libs, and become more of a star. This backfired on McGee as Barat lost interest without Pete and took Powel to his new project, DPT, and Hassel went to form Yeti, leaving McGee without a band. The line sedated in this sense isnt literal, it just means Barat was kept quiet over the whole situation, in return for being the 'front man elevated', or so pete saw it at the time. It's also worth noting that Pete wrote this while still a libertine, but was told to stay at home rather than touring Japan, due to in McGee's words "being mentally unstable" I have respect for McGee for promoting Oasis, but if it wasn't him, surely someone else would have recognised the potential of one of the bigest bands of British rock history? Even McGee didn't see the potential of Oasis, he just, in his own words "wanted to get them in before the new stone roses album". The amazing music scout everyone says? Or just right place, right time? His handling over the Doherty incidents was nothing short of diabolical. It seems he just had his heart set on getting Carl on his own, without the rest of the Libs. Look at the situation, he joins as manager as friction starts to exist, under McGee's management Doherty starts to get seperated from the band, Doherty gets forced to stay at home, which makes Carl feel like the Libs have ran their course, so he takes Powel to DPT, where McGee 'agrees' to manage. Sorry Alan, I feel you could have done so much more for this amazing band, and for two best friends who now hardly talk. You are a selfish selfish man. |

If you have a look at a few of Pete's notes in the books of Albion, obviously the main one being 'campaign of hate', the lines: "There's a campaign of hate It's waiting at the school gates" Is about when Pete went to school one day and a BNP type political party was outside his school trying to convince kids that they were right with their right-wing views. The Lines: "I tried it with Charlene And I spent three days on my back" Came from when pete started 'talking like he was black' to impress a girl, and the kids she was already hanging around with attacked him. |
