This is my absolute favourite song by Conor ever. I think it's about a relationship where he is depressed and she gets tired of his ups-and-downs. She used to be the one who rescued him from his downs but now, he's not sure of where she stands. Now he's down again, and tries to reach her but she's not there as she used to be. They both made some kind of mistakes in the relationship, which they chose not to talk about for the simplicity. He feels that it all had been to complicated lately, and wants it all to be easy again. He asked her to be honest with him cause he can't stand not knowing anything. Then, she's sort of playing with him when she's insecure. She wants him but not the complicated relationship they had. So he tells her he doesn't care about "the things we cannot speak" so he's ready to just love her if she loves him back which he's asking her about again in the end. I love this song so much it hurts sometimes. |

The $t!g - I think sort of the same as you do. He's already got a girlfriend but is still playing with other girls. When it appears to him that she used to be one of the girls that he flirted with and really wanted, is she already gone. And the writer is with her all the time, standing next to her. Also in her opinions. Sort of. I don't now, maybe. |

I would like to think that this song is about a possible girlfriend who can't decide wheather she wants to stay or leave. She's always repeating the same words and seems to be afraid of beeing looked up in a relationship. He thinks, that she thinks too much. She's free in his arms, and he's standing there with his great love to her as long as she does the same. |

To begin with, he is addicted to drugs and so is the girl. He was quite naive when he was in love with her, since he couldn´t notice how she used him. I like the line, "I wanna live my life like somebody´s shadow", cause I can relate to it a lot. When you feel down does it often feel like you can´t take care of yourself, and that it would have been easier just to be the shadow of someone stronger than you. "I'm held like an object and then set aside And I'm back on the shelf, I'm locked in the drawer I'm mint in the box, but you would still sell me for cost Wouldn't you?" Think that part is about when he finally realized how she used him to get money or drugs. He´s only Someone special when it suits her. Not_thesun, totally agree to you about the end. |

Acutally, I think that she doesn´t know anything about his feelings for her. I think he never shows it, and that´s why he´s asking these questions. And about that last line, I think it means that everyone is there, including her but someone you love can seem to be really far away even though you´re standing and talking to the person since the feelings probably´s not answered. It´s like she´s there but then again not. Her feelings is not there. Love this song anyway. |

I think it´s about two lovers who both know they´re not good for each other so they kinda break up even though they don´t want to. One of them get real upset, and says the "I´m probably..." sentenses, because it feels hopeless. The ending is about how he cares for her and that in his eyes, is she perfect. I think he also tries to say that she need to hang on and be strong because she´ll be ok. How I love this song. It went right into my heart the first time I heard it and it´s still stuck in there. |

I´m crawling out of bed every morning and can relate to this song a lot. For me, it´s about feeling so down that you´re loosing your energy. After feeling down for a long period, you seem to feel nothing at all and I know exactly how that is. You get all neutral. This song is also about having a close friend or even boyfriend who loves you and tries to make things better but you´re to be able to respond the feelings cause your aching. |

I love this song. I think it´s about a relationship ending, because of the alcohol. They both had drinking problems, and they both were depressed. So they drank to feel better but as known, you only feel better when you drink, not the days after. The song discribes just the way it feels when you´re addicted to alcohol but still wants to stop drink. The sick thing is that I can relate to this song and I know what it feels like when you wake up the day after drinking being filled with anguish. |

Actually, the singer of Eels, "Mr E", lost his father when he was 19. 1996, his sister committed suicide, and two years later his mother died in cancer. So, I´m quite sure this song is about the great lost of his family, and that everybody keeps telling him to realize they won´t come back and that he must move on without them. In second verse he sings, "time to put the old horse down" and probably realizes that it´s time for him to get a grip and live along without them. Think it´s "I need some sleep, you can´t go on like this" in the beginning of the song, and not "you can´t go home like this"... I really like this song, I lost my father a few years ago and kinda know what it´s like when you can´t understand that you won´t ever see that person again. |
