Tim Kasher – A Bluer Sea Lyrics 12 years ago
The line is "Good for a fling, but who could take you seriously?"

Seems like it's about "the butterfly effect."

Every action we take affects the entire planet and creates endless possible futures.

What does it mean to "go gator?"

Cursive – Big Bang Lyrics 19 years ago
I think the first two lines just say that even in our early stages, humans were searching for explanations for existence, "grasping at straws", which, in Tim's view is what Christianity still is today.

Fantastic song. The lyrics are actually a little disturbing to me, especially given the full lyrics. The Lamb is so naive and accepting of this creepy guy.

This song and So-So Gigolo also seem to be the only songs on the album that come close to not fitting the theme, but they both work.

"due to rape" doesn't make sense either. it's pretty clear that the sex was consensual.

Kind of feels like it's Tim saying he's not going to write his trademark personal lyrics anymore.

Cursive – The Sunks Lyrics 19 years ago
Definitely the weakest track on the album, just seems like Cursive-by-numbers. The lyrics are pretty weak too, don't need 4 lines in a row that say the same thing. Still an alright song though.

Does anyone if Ted writes the songs that he sings? Or does Tim write them all and pick ones for Ted to sing?

Cursive – Retreat! Lyrics 19 years ago
This started out as my least favorite on the album but now it's one of my favorites. Some of the weaker lyrics still, but Tim's voice, the constant horns, and the incredible ending more than make up for it.

A lot of the songs cover similar territory...Rise Up and Retreat both harshly denounce religions, At Conception and Bad Sects both deal with covering up scandals in the priesthood. They're completely different musically though, they're all necessary.

I think the debated line ends with "new terrain", as in Cole covering new ground in his strange sermon. i don't hear the D or P sounds for "due to rape" at all.

The cello freakout during the 3rd "Jealousy" section is one of the best Cursive moments ever.

Cursive – Opening the Hymnal/Babies Lyrics 19 years ago
When he says "First hymn..." in this song, he calls it "a song (or maybe sort?) of introduction", referring to the Opening the Hymnal half of the song. The "son-of-God complex" lyric is only in Hymns for the Heathen.

Got the single yesterday and it has the correct lyrics

-"American dreams *pollute* our cities"

-"*Our* bellies"

And the first screaming part is
-"This plot is literally our lot in life"

Makes loads more sense.

Salad days is an old expression meaning the height of your youth/life. Pretty sure it's correct.
