The Rolling Stones – Brown Sugar Lyrics 17 years ago
Quite simply, this song plays on the white stereotype of the sexual prowess of the black race. The first verse is rather raunchy, to be sure. The second verse's "houseboy" is probably a black servent getting it on with the lady of the house. The third verse is more about Mick himself who is no schoolboy but knows what he likes. I don't know how racist or sexist it is, but I had a black girlfriend once who loved to listen to this song when we were getting it on. A sexy song indeed, always reminds me of her. "Is it true what they say about you people? oh, it's true, it's true, it's true!"

Led Zeppelin – Misty Mountain Hop Lyrics 18 years ago
I've read in many places that this is influenced by The Hobbit. Bilbo rejects the hobbit lifestyle and goes out to have adventures. In this song, the singer temporarily falls into the hippie group when he scores drugs and gets high with them. He sees that even the police like to party (which cracks me up). But after a while, he sees that these people are just escaping reality, just passively going through life (not trying to fight it) in a drug haze. So he leaves them to do something better, to head for the misty mountains, to search for some kind of real purpose instead of sitting like a book on a shelf.

Led Zeppelin – The Lemon Song Lyrics 18 years ago
All four members really showcase their talents in this song. The original "Killing Floor" was about a guy moaning that he didn't take off with another woman who came up to see him from Mexico, and now he is stuck in a relationship he can't get out of. "The Lemon Song" is obviously about not being able to leave a destructive woman, perhaps due to the great sex she provides. I never thought that the "children" were sperm and the woman was a prostitute, I assumed it was a man with an unfaithful wife, but the former also makes sense to me.

Led Zeppelin – I Can't Quit You Baby Lyrics 18 years ago
I'd say this Willie Dixon cover is about infidelity and its consequences. He's crazy for his extra-marital girlfriend, even though this affair has ruined his home life with his wife and child.

Led Zeppelin – Hats Off to (Roy) Harper Lyrics 18 years ago
It's a great song. You could say that it's hats off to the old swampy Mississippi delta blues. Like slow cheetah, I love it that Zep could both play hard rock and traditional folk.

Led Zeppelin – Hey Hey What Can I Do Lyrics 18 years ago
LittleZepGirl: "Hey hey Sara eats poo!" Ha ha! Kids are great, let me tell you! I know your brother is probably annoying, but you'll miss him once you two are living apart.

That said, I figure this song is about being in love with a prostitute. I don't know if Plant was ever in love with one, but isn't that a common blues theme, such as Hendrix's "Red House"? It certainly is a motif in literature, sort of a young man's initiation is usually being in love with a hooker or a mature woman (basically, someone who will not be committed). Of course, the woman in the song could be just a loose woman and not a prostitute, it really doesn't make that much of a difference as far as the pain goes. When you're in love, you're in love.

Led Zeppelin – Custard Pie Lyrics 18 years ago
It most definately has to be about cunnilingus. I don't mean to be too graphic here, but a woman's pussy drenched with her own cum could very well resemble custard pie, especially if she is a heavy comer.
"Chew on a piece of your custard pie..."

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 19 years ago
First of all, I'm 28 and simply love Led Zep.
Now, before I was introduced to Led Zep, I went as a junior higher to this boy scout-like 2-week retreat sponsered by my church. During that retreat, all these odler high school Christian guys were telling me about how evil Led Zep was, and anyone who can put two and two together will figure out that this particular song was brought up. Well, I listened in fear and fascination (even though I've heard a lot of stories anyway). I promised to stay away from Led Zep. After the retreat, I went out and bought the fourth album on cassette. Well, all I can say is that while I love the album, and STH is a great song (with a guitar solo that won number one solo in a certain guitar magazine), I was disappointed. I didn't hear any devil voice or calling or get any strange subliminal message, and there was nothing for me to do but clean up the mess I made from hacking my parents into little pieces with an axe. Okay, bad joke. But I even tried to listen to it backwards, even with a digital recording, and unless there's some magic elven power within vinal, I didn't hear a damn thing. It's like this old Santa Claus movie where a father who doesn't believe in Santa says, "Seeing is believing," and Santa, who is dressed like a normal person, replies, "No, believing is seeing." Maybe a bit corny, but all too true.
