Why does it have to be a gunshot suicide? Most gunshots to the head are not suicides.

Robert Earl Keen, Jr. – I'm Comin' Home Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song.

In addition to simply being a beautiful song, REK mentions the city I was born in, the town where I grew up (San Jose and Santa Cruz, California, respectively), the radio station I listened to when I was little (KPIG), and the KPIG DJ who lived down the street from me when I lived in Santa Cruz (Sleepy John).

By the way, there's a mistake in the lyrics. It's not "They threw a party," it's "Pig threw a party...." "Pig" is the nickname for the radio station mentioned above.

Johnny Cash – The Devil's Right Hand Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a Steve Earle song. I guess Johnny Cash covered it.

Fred Eaglesmith – 105 Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree. He can be funny, but he also has some good serious stuff. He sounds just as natural either way, which I think is a mark of a talented songwriter (Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen are like that, too).

Guy Clark – Die Tryin' Lyrics 19 years ago
I'm really surprised that there are hardly any comments in the Guy Clark section, considering he's one of the best songwriters of all time.

The message in this song is pretty clear and very strong.
