I love this song.
In addition to simply being a beautiful song, REK mentions the city I was born in, the town where I grew up (San Jose and Santa Cruz, California, respectively), the radio station I listened to when I was little (KPIG), and the KPIG DJ who lived down the street from me when I lived in Santa Cruz (Sleepy John).
By the way, there's a mistake in the lyrics. It's not "They threw a party," it's "Pig threw a party...." "Pig" is the nickname for the radio station mentioned above. |

I agree. He can be funny, but he also has some good serious stuff. He sounds just as natural either way, which I think is a mark of a talented songwriter (Guy Clark and Robert Earl Keen are like that, too). |

I'm really surprised that there are hardly any comments in the Guy Clark section, considering he's one of the best songwriters of all time.
