it took me a very long time to come up with what i thought of this song... the first verse, when she says: "2 Am and she calls me cause I'm still awake Can you help me unravel my latest mistake I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season. Yeah we walk through the doors so accusing their eyes Like they have any right at all to criticize Hypocrites you're all here for the very same reason." one girl just found out that she's pregnant with her boyfriend's child. when she realizes this, she realizes that she doesn't love him anymore and this winter fling is (or should be) over with now. when they are walkin through the 'doors' they are goin to an abortion clinic. the ppl in the waiting room seem to look .. disgusted at the fact that they (the two girls) are there but forget the fact that they are there for the same reason. the chorus: "Cause you can't jump the track We're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table, No one can find the rewind button girl So just cradle your head in your hands. And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe just breathe" she's saying life isn't perfect and you don't get to 're-do' your mess ups b/c "life is like an hourglass that's glued to the table." second verse: "May he turned 21 on the base of Fort Bliss Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist Ain't been sober since maybe October of last year Here in town you can tell he's been down for while But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles Wanna hold him but maybe I'll just sing about it " i think that this guy could possibly be the (ex)boyfriend. she learns that it's his birthday and decides to go see him up at base. and when she she see him, all of her old feelings come rushing back and for just a moment, she misses but then she comes to her senses and steps back from the scene. when she did see him, she could tell that he was distraught possibly over the fact that he lost her. he's been drinking a good bit and the fact that he just turned 21, means nothin to him since he's already been drinking. thrid & forth verse: "There's a light at each end of this tunnel you shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out And these mistakes you've made You'll just make them again if you'll only try turnin' around 2Am and I'm still awake writing this song If i get it all down on paper it's no longer inside of me threaten' the life it belongs to. And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd Cause these words are my diary screamin' out aloud And I know that you'll use them however you want to." she is saying to her listener's that life isn't perfect and that things seem to happen for a reason. and if you don't learn from your mistakes, you'll just end up repeating yourself over and over. in the next part, she explains why she's writting all this down and why she chose to sing it. when she pours her soul out, she's making herself vunerable for attacks by others. so she feels like she's exposing herself and is scared of the reactions that it my stir up. and that who ever reads it, will use it how they see fit. |

the little brigde part goes SOMETHING like: i guess it wasn't what i want it really wasn't what i thought i thought it was the day i got it i want it all to go away there's no "oh god...." --oh hey hunter. i don't even know how you got that much of that part before the bridge. but yea, after i listened to it and read what you wrote.. sounds pretty damn close. good job |

i think, this songs is refering to a couple.. she's still in love with him, while he is ready to leave. he's telling her to move on and not dwel on what just happened. to just leave him in her past. she still wants him in her life and she probably feels as if she can't live, or go on without him there. "You shouldn't hang on. It's already gone." she wants something that doesn't exsist anymore.... at least that's my view.. |
