i think the 2nd verse goes.. Life’s not about your next... waiting, just waiting, see.. sounds like it to me. first time i listened to it, i didn't like it to so much. i'm listening to it again, and i guess it's kinda growing on me. ok, fine, maybe a little stronger than just 'growing on me'. i absolutely love the first few lines, the way he sings it, the words... i think it's about being nostalgic.. missing that person after parting ways. a girl? a friend? who knows. but it almost sounds like forgetting. 'man that was ages ago...' like he can't remember how that felt like. yeah, this also reminds me of 'what it feels like to be a ghost'. don't know why though. |

i love this song :) and i think martin does a really good job, too. (travis is a given.) i love how it's all about Christmas. i know that's blatant, but it just doesn't sound like it at first, coz it sounds painful and desperate, and maybe it is. but it's just looking for something. and i love Christmas, but i love sad songs about it. it just shows how something beautiful and inherently good can be sad and incomplete without the right person, thing, or whatever is missing. |

it can be something romantic..sure. but to me it's all about having fun and being young. you know, the whole going to bed at 5am and waking up at 3pm, talking and hanging out with your friends all night. for me it's the perfect song. friends are going their separate ways - college, work,moving out..wtvr. and this just sings about how no on will ever forget about this summer. carpe diem. |

like everyone else, i totally adore the acoustic version. ok, here's my take: i think this is one of those heart breaker songs where the guy did the hurting instead of the usual. it's almost an apology except he's actually asking her to be mad at him coz he deserves it. (Call me a name, kill me with words, Forget about me, it's what I deserve) he's guilty for what he did (or is about to do, even), the 'aching in my back' and 'stabbing pain' i think refer to guilt, or maybe his lack of backbone to do whatever should be done. i think he's also saying that he never meant to hurt her. it's just that things got waaay too complicated. towards the end of the song, you get the feeling that however sorry he is, he still doesn't love her, or even deserve her. he pretty much owns up to being a cold hearted bastard, saying that all he said were not sincere. "my words are as timed as the beating in my chest". i think that line says that his words are rehearsed, so i guess there's no sincerity or genuineness in them. it's a sad take to it, but that's how i hear this song. Alex is brilliant. |

my friend called this song a GIBBERISH. i almost buried her alive. i explained it to her line per line and now she gets it. except for.. has anyone heard of the other version? i'm not quite sure.. (but i know some ppol already said it..) yeah the title of the song has something to do with dancing.. now we all know who fred astaire is.. (well, actually i dont..) all i know is that he's a good dancer. and i remember adam saying something about the title of the song. it's named after him because it's about dancing around the topic.. kinda like beating around the bushes i think? and he's the 'king' of dances. i guess it's about the whacked out relationship that they both know is not working? and they're not quite sure how to end? and maybe they just beat around it and sort of post ponig the end of their relationship? kinda like.. 'ok, we'll give it one more chance' and.. i guess they just both get hurt. i'm not sure what the song is about EXACTLY.. but i'm pretty sure about the title. |
