John Butler Trio – Better Than Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about the illusion of the grass being greener on the other side. Well I think John is trying to say that this doesn't have to be true. Just live and feel and realize that the grass isn't always greener. As long as you've got food, clean water, and shelter you're better than.

Rx Bandits – Tainted Wheat Lyrics 19 years ago
Let me first give a special thanks to the above commenter. I bet you do love this song but, do you care even a little what the song means? Do you understand all that this song speaks of? Why do you love this song? Because it depicts the world we "live" in today. The horrible truth that people are threatened by their own government every single day of their lives. The fact that people are controlled by the media. So much so that they will spend above and beyond their income and fall into debt just so that they can see MTV (which should change their title considering that there is no music videos on that channel anymore.) in high definition on their plasma screen televisions. These kinds of humans are known as consumerists. They have been brainwashed into thinking that that is what they need to be happy. In a sense they are buying their fears away.

If you actually look at the lyrics…you’ll notice that Matt is singing as though he is the government laying down their plans to take over the country. The first step is SO CALLED education. Then you are to conform to everyone else and stay in a tranquil state so that they can control your actions. They keep you satisfied with plasma screen televisions so you can watch fox “news” in high definition and thoroughly believe everything they tell you. Right after this is the chorus where its beginners luck if you get out of the strong hold of the government and their mind manipulating ways. He goes on to say that this is just a finely fashioned fairy tale that spins an indestructible web filled with lies, where each lie breeds new lies to cover. Next is the intimidation that the government brings to force you to comply and conform. And how we are socially segregated into these arbitrary classes. Where you think of some dumb reason for this madness and just play consumer to make yourself “happy”. The more fear that the government inflicts upon us the more divided we will be in a sense because we won’t ever want to join together and fight for what is truly righteous and justified if were afraid of the consequences. Indecisive decisions will be made that are so wrong and random that it can’t be the real thing, war for instance. They will keep you paranoid so you’ll struggle thorough life and only be concerned for your own safety/security by putting locks on all your doors, cameras all over your house, alarms, etc. Fill your pockets now your mine, the more you buy the more you loose. If you can’t find a vein I’ll be the medicine, he‘s saying that you don’t need pills and other drugs all you need is love.

The last part is about how on fox “news” for instance everyday they show multiple heroic events where the oh so brave police come and save the day so you think to your self “what would we do without them” (we wouldn’t be shot 50+ times on a whim that’s for sure). They will distract you with religion, and tell you things like “we are winning the war on terrorism” and you’ll eat it up. Poor will kill the poor in this democracy, which is a word they will brain wash you with. They’ll take the poverty to jail, as if they don’t have it bad in the first place. And fight wars to boost the economy and give billionaires more plasma screen televisions than you could ever imagine. EVERYTHING YOU BUY “THAT YOU DON’T REALLY NEED” ONLY FEED US MORE.

Overall this song explains it self but I feel that some people purposely ignore the lyrics because they are captive by the beat.

Rx Bandits – In Her Drawer Lyrics 19 years ago
Right On (skacore dude & theauroratheory). Straight up I think it is insane how many ads there are for pills everywhere. It’s basically just the media telling Americans that their stupid and they can’t think for themselves which I believe is true at this point. I’ve lost all faith in the human race, because it has become a race that can’t be won…we’re on the wrong road and we need to pull the e-brake.

But seriously how obvious can it be...the number one health risk in America is obesity! There’s an obesity epidemic and because one of the most common traits in Americans is laziness, why not sell magic pills that make you lose weight. But, at the same time lets help our fellow man by building more McDonalds and Burger Kings. This is part of the reason why we just don’t have a chance to change for the better…BECAUSE NO ONE CARES!!!

Matt Embree is one of the smartest men I don’t know. In “On A Lonely Screen” he needs a pill just to feel her insides is a relevant lyric. Like how many ED pills are there on the market…it’s not natural…if you need a pill to feel you don’t even know what feeling feels like because you can’t, and no pill will help you.

I feel as though Matt’s hoping and waiting for a change but, i’m sorry to say that that change is coming and it’s one for the worse.

“What has happened to my country? we have become worse than the imagined enemy - killing civilians and calling it 'collateral damage', torturing and trampling human rights inside and outside our own borders, violating our own Constitution whenever it seems convenient, lying and stealing right and left, more concerned with sports on television and ring-tones on cell-phones than the future of the world.... half the population is taking medication because they cannot face the daily stress of living in the richest nation in the world.” - Malachi Ritscher

Rx Bandits – A Mouth Full of Hollow Threats Lyrics 19 years ago
Clearly this song is about Mr. Untouchable A.K.A. The President. This song sums up all of the horribly insane things the government does and gets away with because no one does anything to stop them. When all it takes is a spark to burn it all down.

For instance it makes no difference who is elected to lead The United Snakes Of America because all that person is, is a puppet being controlled by whom ever the puppeteer is, some other apathetic android.

Matt Embree feels as though we can make a change for the better. "Sun is rising to a brighter day who's to blame?" This means when in fact we do make that change it won't really matter who's to blame.

Rx Bandits – Falling Down The Mountain Lyrics 19 years ago
This song in my opinion is a little confusing but overall like a lot of Rx songs it's about followers, a whole bunch of them all Falling Down The Mountain as the title suggests. The first verse seems to be about a leader trying to show people how screwed up everything is but, their not listening. The line "Looked so deep inside that we can't see" I think is actually "Locked so deep inside that we can't see out". Anyway the chorus I think is about how we are always buying stuff we don't need and how we arelocked into buying like consumer zombies. The second verse is about how people don't really care whats going on in this world and just get drunk and then a leader distracts them to try and show them the way but they don't care(kind of far fetched, I know). The third verse is about people "not having time" (classic excuse) to ask why this is going on and then just ignoring everything horrible that is going on in this world and just "surviving". The final verse is like the rest of the song plus some sick lines like "We're barely living through it, too scared to do it". I think i'm pretty close to what Rx had in mind when they wrote this song but then again I could be way off.

Rx Bandits – Mastering The List Lyrics 19 years ago
This song in my opinion is about peoples lives and how a lot of people accept the fact that they are going to end up in a cubicle in front of a computer screen their whole lives and just end up becoming androids,"Human life replacement".' Like following commands, Get up, eat breakfast, go to work, eat lunch, go home, eat dinner, go to sleep and then it just repeats over and over. Just accepting the way things are "supposed to be", like how the lyrics say "They got you thinking What you wanna believe Just to fall with no better way". "We're all falling in line And waiting to die For what?A plaque on the wall and another numeral On a corporate statistic of a government chart". Basically there is more to life than what this world has come to believe.
