i don't think this song is about something concrete. its more obscure. and even sounds like its probably what that one guy said about 'do you have to eb crazy to be artistic.' i remember when i lost my mind. it was when somewhere before i realized i wasn't a child anymore. "when you're out there, without care" when you're out in the real world being less intuitive and creative, you are out of touch with the creative, artistic side of yourself.....you are paying attention to all the rules you've picked up. "i just knew too much" "having the time of your life, think twice" because if you're being creative and artistic all the time, or your being the exact opposite of that all the time.....you're still crazy to somebody who is being whichever one of those two which you are not being. the artist is crazy in the eyes of the statistician, and vice verse. "Bless your soul You really think you’re in control? I think you're crazy" for thinking you are in control while ignoring the fact that there is more than one way to go about life. nobody is in total control of anything they do. something else is contributing, be it past influences, or outside limitations, or whatever. "My heroes had the heart To live their lives out on the limb And all I remember, is thinking I wanna be like them Mmhmm Ever since I was little, Ever since I was little it looked like fun And as no coincidence I’ve come And I can die when I’m done" .......some people realize you have to press limits. your own limits that you give yourself. the limits placed on you by authorities. everytime somebody does something for the first time, the rest of the entire species evolves one step further. you have to risk looking crazy in somebody else's eyes if you want to change the world. what could be more fun than that? worry about that, and you can die later when you're done with that. |

yeah, one of hip hop's finer experimental tracks.... i guess i'd say this song is about trying to be real to yourself as an artist in the hip hop game while every other artist is trying to change the definition of "being real" to the opposite of what its like to maintain knowledge of self. in a more obscure way, i guess this song is about being alone by default. |

"But your walkin like a sour Kraut" a play on words obviously....maybe who he's talking about is german though? "I know you can straddle The atmosphere A tiny storm in your teacup girl I know you can battle the masses..." i think its more accurate to take this like her legs are so used to being spread, she can straddle the globe....so him fuckin with her is analogous to a tiny storm in a teacup (visually, the swirl of milk into a cup of tea).....saying not much affects her, emotionally and/or physically (as far as her vagina is concerned) or she's the female "Smooth operator" or the female Fonzie....so nothing can bother her. she's kind of like the chick in Mos Def's "Ms. Fat Booty" but bigger. and btw, how can anybody say AK isn't a rapper? AND....whats wrong with the beastie boys? i don't understand how AK is any less "crazy" than the B-Boys or Eminem (ok, he's not as psychotic as Em....but its still rap) |
