I definitely agree. Even the lines,
It's early in the morning
and I don't know what to do.
It's early in the morning
and I can't believe it's true.
It's early in the morning
and it's happening again;
I called you once, I called you twice.
Ain't I your midnight man?
work with the Odyssey, when Penelope tests Odysseus after he reveals himself the morning after he killed the suitors. |

I'm not about to discount the dog theory, because I think it's sweet, but I think it's about a teenaged son. He doesn't necessarily have to be writing about his own son, it's not like the majority of his songs are written about his life anyway. |

I have no idea where the dialogue is from...but this song is so cool. |

This makes me think that this "Holy girl" is a prostitute, which is probably totally far off, but who knows? |

I heard this on Veronica Mars, too. It was perfect for the scene. |

I always thought
"You're looking skinny like a model with her eyes all painted black, always going to the bathroom saying she will be right back."
had more to do with bulimia than drugs. I don't know, though, I suppose meth makes sense too. |

I think school must have ruined my brain, because when I hear this song, I only think about computers during WWII. The Colossus was a code breaker used by the British to defeat Germany's Enigma...it fits in my head, at least :) |

I flipping adore this song. It's just in and out, it's like an awesome rant. The "thank you" at the end is just perfect. The song is just so effortless! I adore it. |

I happen to think that this song is about a guy who is involved in some not so squeaky clean acts. Perhaps drug relatd The line
My woman, she stood crying like a man
Said, "where have you been
Where have you been?
I thought you said that all of that was done."
makes me think that this guy's "woman" knows that he's back committing his foul acts. The beginning of the third verse just seems like someone on drugs. And the rest...I don't know. I suppose his life isn't going the way he wanted it to, or expected it to, and he's a bit mad at the world. Maybe.
The end. |

This song is simply amazing. It's right up there with Breath Me. Definitely my favorite song on her new album. |

I really like this song. I don't really get it...at all. But it sounds like a thunderstorm to me, and I can just become engulfed in it...so I love it. |

To me it sounds like a divorce song. The lines
"That woman's on my back again," and
"I love her too.
And all of this has got nothing to do with you,"
just screams divorce to me. Plus, "You know you've got your daddy's eyes" is something I'm sure my dad said to try to get me on "his side" during the divorce. |

It kinda just reminds me of a guy who's, like, super depressed and he's thinking the worse of every situation
"there's two more dead in texas and it's probably your girls"
but there's nothing to do cause it's really all in his head. So he kinda just sits there calmly, thinking of all the worst things. I don't know, anyone feel the same way? |
