this is one of my favorite ärztesongs. i know i posted that many times for a lot of songs - but it's still true. everybody can relate to this song. i love the guitar riff. i think it goes really well with this feeling of anxiety mixed with fearand love and insecurity and... you know what i mean. |

okay first of all: i LOVE this song, i think it's my favorite ärzte song ever. about the meaning: i heard that it was partially inspired by Sahnie, their ex-bassist. they had to kick him out of the band because he wouldnt show up for rehearsals of enitre gigs. when bela and farin told sahnie that he had to go, he said they had to keep him because "you need my face" (self absorbed prick) . According to the ärzte, sahni had at that point lost any interest in music as a form of artistic expression and was only after money and girls, thus "da ist keine sehnsucht mehr in deinem blick" of course, the song can mean so many different things to different people at differnt points in their lives, and that' s what makes it so great. |

i don't know... im a really big peppers fan but i just cant listen to this song. there's something about anthony's voice on this one that's really annoying me. I can't say exactly what it is though. the lyrics are about a girl who broke up with him, and it's probably not the first time she's done that. he knows she's playing with his feelings but at the same time he can't let go of her. So he's asking himself whether his love for the girl is srtong enough to be in this on/off relationship. |

um, i dont know if this has been said already (only read the first page) but i believe the lines "rainbow in your jail cell" and "make the snow fall up from underneath your feet" don't refer to drugs at all. The first one is about hope in a desperate situation/place, the second one is a metaphor for doing anything for somebody who's important to you, in this case breaking the laws of physics. i love this song, it's one of the most eautiful i've ever heard and means so many things to me at the same time. |

wow, I'm actually the first to comment on this song... anyway, so here's what I think it's about: in the first verse he's basically saying that he's never really cared for that person,he wants to break up with her (add up the two of us and then subtract the one of me) but it doesn't seem to bother him all that much. I feel the second verse is about how he played her (I turn you into one and then I turn you out for fun) but then he says "in fact you never were that dumb", so maybe she was aware of that. i absolutely love this song! i think it's about a girl he met once and the age difference was quite big (17 and 31). it sounds like he is pretty desperate for her but at the same time it sounds as if he's very confused about his feelings. the verse always starts with a contradiction - evil/good, peace/war etc., meaning that no matter what they did, they couldn't go wrong but it could also mean that he's torn between two contradictin emotions or choices . he sings "let's breake into heaven for a dance with heaven's devils or is that more than you can store inside your head?", so he isn't sure how far she will go. well, thats just my 2 cents love, Anna |

i used to be one of those 13-year old btw freaks. So fucking what? I now own half of their albums (more than half if you dont count what hits? and greatest hits) and i absolutely LOVE their older, funkier stuff. But come on, the red hot chili peppers have been around for so long, it's no wonder that their style has chaged and matured. i believe a lot of people complain about btw beacuse the transition came so suddenly and inexpectedly. all of their albums are special and great in their own way. I do have to admit that i dont really like ohm all that much because the magical connection that the band had with hillel and john simply wasnt there when they played with dave navarro. i think it's the most wonderful thing to watch a band grow both artistically and personally over the years. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a wonderful band and make wonderful music and imho i believe the last thing they'd want is people insulting one another over their music. Anna |

hi! um im new here so please bear w/ me. i personally think this song is about desperately wanting to be with someone who is emotionally fragile and afraid of being hurt by a new relationship ("ereryday depression in a beautiful dress", "dedicated mind in a medicated state","i swear to god I could not hurt you") the part "i cant contain my urge to search you/my heart is swollen when i search you" probably refers to him not being able to let go, thinking bout her all the time even though he knows she's not ready for a relationship. "i stand before you there's no curfew"- there's nothing to fear wookiekiller, it's pronounced like exotic elixer with a "qu" sound added just one last question - isn't it "i wish it was so" and not "you were sober"?
