| Tapes N Tapes – In Houston Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| hmmm this is a hard one to figure out well all tapes n' tapes songs sort of are but I'm guessing it's about "saving" a girl from the circus which can really be a metaphor for her life. It's in dissarray and lonely and he doesn't want to leave her because it's making her into a mess. That's what I'm getting I'm completely obsessed with the first part of the song it's kind of sounds like Omaha another great song by them... | |
| Arctic Monkeys – The Bad Thing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| wow what a slut... so she's married and I'm guessing asking to get with him and he's actually thinking about it until his morals kick in... it's a very honest song and I can see how it can happen to him a lot now. Love it. | |
| Cillian Murphy – So New Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i love Cillian's voice he should do more songs. i love this line "The island boats was slow We heard the Monkeys on the radio The only song you know" It just reminds me of simple things like going to the beach and chilling. This song is beautiful period and Disco Pigs was lucky to have Cillian write it for them jk but really the soundtrack was great and this was the icing. |

| Arctic Monkeys – Only Ones Who Know Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I feel like the song is about how people doubt love even exists(a myth) and when he meets a couple who looks like they've got it you're still not really sure, only they know. It's so charming... I think that's what everyone thinks about sometimes well I do... Does it really exist? "They made it far too easy to believe That true romance can't be achieved these days" That's my favorite line 'cause its so true... I think this and 505 are great songs and sort of a step up for them |

| Arctic Monkeys – Teddy Picker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I really thought this song was about the music critics: "we are defenders Of any poser or professional pretender around" sounds as if he's critising the way the critics always diss on bands and pretend they know everything about music(snobs) and have the right to "defend" music...or what they think it is. Best song I've heard all this year I think... especially like it when they sing "Saw it as he grabbed it And it wasn’t what it seemed The kids all dream of making it Whatever that means" there's something about that part that makes me want to replay it! I know its not Turner's voice. Best Sophmore album since... ever I think they beat the curse. |

| The Stone Roses – I Wanna Be Adored Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| just saw the movie "Green Street Hooligans" and i heard this song I love the vocals and even if it's very 80's-90's like I'm still attracted to it... it seemed kind of off in the movie though but Idk I still liked it. Great movie great song especially the beginning with the strong base and the subway sounds in the background. Now I see why it fits the movie although it couldve easily fit trainspotting as well. | |
| Doves – Valley Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Idk maybe a family thats been kicked out of their house and they decide to leave to the country or a girl who no one believes idk there could be a lot of meanings. | |
| Björk – Bachelorette Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| wow is all I can say about this song | |
| Broken Social Scene – Stars and Sons Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
They're live performance at Berkeley made me crave to hear more. The clapping was probably the best part of the whole night. Everyone got into it and the song was great. I got home and started to listen to it non-stop! This song has a lot of moral you can't really point out the meaning it has too many. generally about life though and how everyone wishes they could look into the future and decide when to die. | Bloc Party – American Kids Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I really don't think they were trying to offend although this song is very offensive to those who don't look closely to the last line. They have stated in many articles and what-nots that's it's really not about hating Americans just people who act like the stereotype (we've) been forced upon. The last line seems to be the key. It sounds like he's chastising himself for caring/judging or for being pompous enough to think all americans are this way. It isn't about offending americans more like an internal struggle to hate those around you because they act a certain way. Yes "american kids(rich stuck up prats)" can be annoying but complaining about them doens't make them dissappear and I think he realised it in the end. Adana |

| Bloc Party – The Marshals Are Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I think it's Gordon who sings this part, "Spring breaks in ranks and in boulevards A country that grows us But cannot contain us"I get really pumped to start a revolution or something! Not my Fav song but definitely love the lyrics they represent what our generations youth feel about our govenrment. No matter how they influence us we're certainly not them and one day we will be the ones in control or something. They're also saying to look past all the trends no matter how ingraved they are into our heads because in years to come we'll probably ask ourselves what the hell we were thinking. It's an inspiring song. More can be said about this song than most anti-war songs out right now. Adana |

| Venus In Furs – Baby's On Fire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| God got to love Velvet Goldmine! Jonathan Rhys Meyers is amazing(gorgeous) and although he doesn't have a very pretty voice you have to admit it's a lot nicer than many rich "muscians." This is a entrancing song! I'm glad I got the first comment. | |
| David Bowie – As the World Falls Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I was born in the 90's so if it wan't for my older sister I wouldn't have seen this movie over a million times in my 15 year lifespan! Although I'm not a big fan of 80's cinematography this one is a classic. I can watch this movie over and over especially listen to this song. It's amazing! David Bowie's voice is pure seduction and the sort of childlike twinkling in the background isn't at all cheesy as it fits into the movie and lyrics. I think any girl wishes David Bowie had made this song for them. Damn Jenifer Connelly! Anyways the scene where he sings this song is brilliant especially her costume almost 2 decades later my friends and I wish we had that dress! | |
| Keane – Your Eyes Open Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| At first I thought this was about a one night stand. After reading all your comments it makes more sense that this has the same meaning as the other songs ex. "Everybody's Changing." It sounds like he tried to tell his friend or let them know that he/she has changed and his thought ends up hurting the friend. They finally realize they don't want to know eachother since they're both so hurt by the other. "I don't know you and I don't want to," is a statement of his pride I think. He's to proud to be trying to reconnect ties with his friend. It all very sad I've had too much experience with these sorts of friendships and I can absolutely relate. Brilliant song. | |
| Keane – Allemande Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "They wane so easily without you." Lovely lyrics. I agree about them not being compatible but I also think it was about a loss of faith. He repeatedly says he knew it wouldn't work. Maybe that was a cause for the relationship ending. | |
| Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| At first I didn't pay too much attention to this song when they premiered it on BBC1 but now I'm completely obsessed with it. I think i might even BUY the album! Definitely not Bedshaped but I think better. I think it might be ,although the quote from Rolling Stone might be true, about someone being naive and believing the world truly was a good place but then coming to realise that everyone was just laughing at him for his ideas. He feels betrayed and bitter for being treated like a fool. He's clearly questioning the world and blaming it for his anger which these days can be understood! In a way it ties with the Rolling Interview it's like the anthem to our generation. | |
| Hard-Fi – Better Do Better Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love his voice in this song especially before the chorus they're great! Heard this back in January or something on BBC1 on Sirius and I went mad for 5 months trying to find it! Had it in my head throughout my entire Exit Exams! That's how catchy the song is. Definitely great! | |
| Doves – One of These Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Somehow I felt this song was about these two people who's friends have come and gone much like it always is. They both are hoping that one day they can both find someone who can stick around. He wants the girl to be that person for him but maybe he realizes no one ever does stick around for long. Sort of depressing but that's how it sounds. I love this song especially the beginning the singer's voice is brilliant! | |
| Moulin Rouge – Nature Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Idk if you've noticed this song is based off the book The Little Prince (Le Petite Prince) and is a really known book in France... Great read and perfect song. Loved Moulin Rouge and the song although written for something different is perfect for the movie... | |
| Nat King Cole – Nature Boy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I never realised this song was based on The Little Prince! Which I've read 4 times(once in French lol) Now that I look back at the lyrics it's clear! Thanks Caligo for opening up my eyes and making this song more enjoyable! "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return" These lines were always magical to me and now that I have the connection I realize it's a vital part in the book where the Petite Prince realizes what's important in life. The song is about the narrator(the pilot in the Petite prince) and how he meets the petite prince and he tells him of his adventures. Mezmerising song! |

| Damien Rice – I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For/Star Star Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| So glad they put this one up here! I love this song and U2's version as well but Damien gives a different life to it... especially when he sings Star Star it's my favorite part. There's nothing truer than that part in the song. One of his best songs I think | |
| Underworld – Born Slippy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Heard this song on Trainspotting (I know I just watched it!) and I loved it. It really reminds me of the 90's. Great music to listen to when you're running... | |
| Damien Rice – Cheers Darlin' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| great song I love how it goes with prague(hidden track on eskimo) especially at the end of prague where he repeats a line of cheers darlin. It's a great song the first time i heard it I put on repeat for hours. | |
| Damien Rice – Cross-Eyed Bear Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"I'm not God" refers to him not being able to control everything. This song is mostly about how someone tries to fix something with good intentions and they accidently make it worse. Then the person(lover) gets angry puts them aside and tries to change them. The chorus is really depressing especially the end about not rising again. She(he) telling them that their actions have consequences... Lovely song surprised there weren't more posts. |

| Snow Patrol – Make This Go On Forever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is so great especially how he repeats the chorus over and over maybe to make us understand his feelings more. "The last girl in the last reason to make this last for as long as I could" This line in particular means he cheated on her, but made some desperate reason why he did it to save the releationship gives me the idea that maybe he told her the girl he cheated with threw herself at him. It also mentions in the song that they had been through worse which probably means he cheated before and she was finally was fed up with it. In the end he says, "Please just save me from this darkness" which I think is a way of expressing he's alone and has to be saved from his "habit" on cheating or something. It's a real song something I can relate to about men and cheating even though they're completely in love reminds me of Off/On in their albums the songs are very similair in plot... | |
| Doves – Darker Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
For some reason when I listen to this song I think about a guy who's in love with a girl but she's only leading him on... He's trying to ignore the signs but he's "blinded by love" and when he does figures out he's hurt and cold. As the relationship continues it's darker as in less truthful or honest... One of my favorite songs of all times best to hear anytime of anyday. I agree with deadeyeduck it's very chilling but makes you crave to listen to it. AdanaC |

| Doves – Black And White Town Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it can be about anyone living in any town(big or small) so it can easily relate to anyone. Cities change people and he's trying to escape the change and follow his own path. Also about how teenagers grow up in a town and how they're always trying to make their lives interesting by looking for conversations and for trouble cause they're so bored(black and white). There's no color in the towns you're growing up in you've been there for so long... | |
| Snow Patrol – Starfighter Pilot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"I cradle his picture at night" means he admires andrew or used to when he was a little boy... then he says "tells me about all his women" which means they met or something and although andrews such a ladies man(celebrity) he still admires him even though he only loves one girl "you know i'll think of you your picture on the wall i would raise my drink to you but i'll stay sober just for you" cute song.... |
|
| Snow Patrol – Somewhere a Clock Is Ticking Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Best song on the album I think and on my top 10 songs. The words, "I could do most anything to you," really mesmerize me. The line could be from a clocks perspective but to me I think more of him saying the line as a threat maybe. The only thing stopping him is the clock he can't see but knows is there. has like a Donnie Darko sort of feel or maybe it does because I'm watchin it right now.... | |
| Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Show me a garden that's bursting into life" The line obviously means he only wants to see good things in life. This song is positive and to me it's about ignoring reality cause that really means making everything more complex and hard to understand. Everyone wants to ignore all the bad things in life and Gary is probably saying this girl helped him forget. The lyrics are so real I can actually feel what he is saying. Greatest song on the album. |

| Doves – Break Me Gently Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Towards the end you can hear like some guy talking but very quiet. At first I thought it was some space recording cause thats what it sort of sounds like but I listened closely and I think it's some guy talking about how a girl broke his heart. Great song and great lyrics even though they are short. | |
