'January is endless' Does anybody reckon the month is pretty significant in that January is the month where people are most depressed? Christmas is over, there’s nothing to look forward to, the weathers shit (yes it's always sit but during Christmas who cares?) and will continue to be shit for a good few months, Christmas debt etc etc... Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I do think Kele used it for the reason that if your going to think these thoughts so deeply, it would be in this month. Michael05 got it spot on, it's someone getting older but still with enough youth left to turn it around think forward and think positively - 'Let's drive to Brighton on the weekend ', - there's still moments to be had. |

Noticed a few things reading this that strike me after knowing the conclusion to the story - 'She was like "fair play" she couldn't say why. She didn't know what all my mates were like.' - Of course she knows Dan, she works with him (earlier mentioned in the song). She knows Dan maybe a bit of a c**t and could easily have taken the money so she prentends she doesn't know Dan well enough for Mike to question her on his loyalty (plus she maybe sleeping with him at this time. 'As I walked back with more drinks to our place, She had her phone stuck to the side of her face.' Dan on the phone?? 'Before she put her phone down, she switched to silent,' Mike took this as her wanting to continue the conversation in peace, he's happy that he's getting on so well with her but might be she doesn't want Dan to keep interfering?? There's also those occasionally moments of uncomfortable silence we all usually get on first dates Mike's brilliantly stuck in - 'Looked at the ashtray, then looked back up, Spinnin' it away on the tabletop.' 'Im tryin' to think what else I could say, Peelin' the label off, spinnin' the ashtray' Mike puts every little detail in so we can imagine this senario so clearly in our heads and relate to the first dates we may have had.
