i never knew it was about a brothel, when i heared this song i thort it was just about a criminal talking about his past and trobled life "my mother was a traiter, she sold my new blue jeans" "my father was a gambling man" but i thort the house was actually where the boy lived,i guess i was wrong, anyway right at the end when he says "oh mother tell your children not to do what i have done" it brings you striaght back to present day again of the man warning people not to go threw what he went threw |

i agree with the whole devil thing, thats what i thort when i heared this song a few more times (Nivarnas version) but at first i thort it was just about incoutering a man who eventually becomes a powerful ruler of the world hence,the man who sold the world |

also (sorry for the double post) i compleatly agree and i forgot to mention that i think that something really tragic happend in his life to make it seem the way he is,like people said about his love.

I personly think this song it about a man (or women) who is going threw a bad time and has found his or her only way out is the color black and that its kind of like a gothic point of view to life,anouther thort i had was that it was indeed a vietnam veteren making his way back into society but then a further thort accuerd that the only reason its used on tour of duty and full metal jacket is because its a song which was written in that era, i could be wrong tho i guess. I read a comment saying that he had lost his love and looking at the lyrics alot of that actually makes sence so now i have a new view of the song. |
