Things always look better in hindsight, so you walk away maybe bothered by those "silly little wounds" but after time you throw them "in the dust." Those little wounds will keep you apart forever but they won't taint your memories. In your heart, it will always be you and your friends, like it was at the very beginning, and you'll keep those memories in your heart, because times like these never just evaporate from your life. Yes, this song is definitely about sex, about losing your virginity, all that good stuff. But this is the message, here. This song is about a gay dude, getting out of his closet and facing the world proudly. Sorry, just kidding, I know this song is killer (!), the guys playing kicks serious ass, the lyrics, its a milestone of metal history, etc, etc....but the vocalist...dudes, you can admit it or not, but you know that metal music is music for men...I mean...for women too but...a gay dude? isn't discrimination, I'm not talking about the gay issue but about the METAL issue...c'mon...just imagine a cool vocalist, like james, or bruce, in this music...it's such a waste this guy singing this song, i have shame in hear it close to other people because of this dude...halford, isn't? anyway, it's my opinion. |

It's about Phil Anselmo, no doubt. His arrogant behaviour, saying shit like "To this day nobody has taken my throne of heavy goddamn metal" http://www.downboard.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=231951&sid=387aeac0e890e86efa72d397719d940b pisses off randy. Also maybe randy thinks(a lot of people does) that phil is the responsible for the pantera breakup, and consequently for Dime's death. And people are always calling phil "redneck", just put the words, "redneck" and "phil anselmo" in google and you'll see. By the way phil is indeed an asshole. now it's easy to say that pantera would come back, that Dime was his brother...now that it makes no diference. One of the main reasons why you cry when a loved one dies, it's because you know that you could have showed more your apreciation when the person was alive, but you didn't, and now it's over, you can't do nothing more, and maybe phil has realized this and is full of remorse. And still an arrogant redneck. (sorry for the weak english) |

Very very well said nem0. This song is that kind of song that is above the limitations of labels or genres that media tries to stick through our troats...if the message of the song has acrossed this walls and reached you, this means that Dime succeded in his purpose. For garrett, serio and timrip...I just wanna say that Dime's and other music heroes' intention was never get people impressed about his skills or things like that...they write a song and then do the best FOR THE SONG only, not like musical-masurbators that spread like rats...
