My most fave Tool song. I don't think its just about Jesus (I'm a Christian, so its pretty obvious that the song means something else to me) I think its about those damn fake preachers, and the people you think you can put your trust in... but you still know they aren't gonna pay you back... or go out of their way to do something. I also see abit of Hitler bashing in this song... JMO... It could mean something else... but It wont stop me from liking the song... |

Its definately about a guy looking for a hooker at night: In the evening, When the day is done I'm looking for a woman, but the girl don't come (The guy just finished working, and he goes looking around town for a prostitute. woah ihatemusic Thats crazy... I love it its a different take on the song that actually makes some sense. I think the meaning of this osng is eiher about the homeless guy, or Viking mythology. Either way its a good song. Ohh and ihatemusic. I think the last part of your post... "The dogs of doom are howling more" probably means that the cops, or whatever have finally had enough of th ehobo, and have killed him, or arrsted him... and the wailing by Plant towards the end is the homeless guy screaming for freedom, and so on... lol crazy aint it... i might just stick to the Viking mythology meaning of th esong... I just love the homeless take on it though... LMAO |

Now I'm a massive fan of Led Zeppelin and im only 15. I don't give a shit if someone thinks Led Zep are soft, or too old. They are one of the most musically talented bands ive ever heard of. Now the Tool version... It's a damn good fucking tribute to the Zeppelin one. But I'm going with Zeppelin on this one. Zeppelin has the classic haunting warped feel to theirs, while Tool has a hard metal version. Kind of makes me think. If Zeppelin took the Meatl road... they'd sound like a classical 70's version of Tool. both great songs. Both give a scary effect. |

OK... I'm going to use my first post on this site, as a tribute to the best rock song in history. Why??? It haseverything rock should have... An epic guitar solo... Amazing vocals... A blend of different instruments, instead of the usual bass, drums, guitar. This is the best song they hae made. Maybe not.. Depends on what mood im in. But this is an epic... sure they have made other amazing songs, but this song can relate and touch the whole population... not just Zeppelin fans. As a 15 year old fan... I hate the fact that Bonham died... they could have continued their legacy abit longer. BUT ANYWAYS the meaning of this song... Well Plant said it himself... "I think... This is a song about hope" To me, the meaning of the song is: Longing to go to that heaven.. Like you're taking the path to heaven, and remembering the stuff that has happened to you, predicting whats in store for you. Brings a tear to my eye and a shiver up my spine and neck. There may be better songs made by Led Zeppelin... But Stairway to Heaven is a song for the ages... Also... That backwards message freaks me out... but it might not be true... You never know. |
