ok so heres what i drew from the song based on what personally happened to me. he obviously loves someone and he thought that they loved him. this person left someone else to be with him. that person that she left still loved her. (remember this for later). so then eventually who he loves found someone new and moved on to that person. he (like the person that she left in the beginning) still loves her and wants desperately to be with her. thats where the "All the jagged edges disappear Colors all are brighter when you're near" part comes from. he realizes what just happened and how the other guy must feel and he wonders why she should get all of the love in the world? what gives her the right to be loved by so many yet love none of them in return? the second verse, "No one's heard a single word I've said They don't sound as good outside my head It looks as though the past is here to stay I've become a million miles away" talks about how no one can understand the pain that he is going through because he cant seem to be able to verbalize it. he thinks about everything but he cant seem to put it in a way that people can understand. it also could mean that what he does and says has good intentions but they are all interpreted as desperate attempts for him to get back together with the one that he loves, pushing her father and farther away ("Ive become a million miles away") the third line, about the past, is talking about how he is realizing now that things are going back to how they were before he met her. needless to say it isnt a very good feeling. as for the first verse, it is showing how he feels out of place in the world. everything has a purpose (insects are used as an example of this) but he feels like he no longer has one. he is all alone in the crowd without anyone to love or anyone who loves him. there you have it. thats my take on the song from personal experience. i could be dead wrong, but i think thats what makes trent such a good writer, he could write a song about one thing and it could mean a million different things to a million different people. |

| ok so weird story: i had never listened to this song before but i had my ipod on random and this came up. i immediately liked it but i couldnt quite figure out why. i decided to look up the lyrics only to discover that this song is about exactly what i was feeling at the time. it was freaky. | |
